But man Devries has absolutely no juice to him. He do a horrible job building this year’s roster and he has to basically do the same thing again this offseason. His high school recruiting has been incredibly pedestrian. Dude just doesn’t bring anything more than the last few guys did. Oh well. 8 months till the football season kicks off again. Had this argument this week with several people. They think a guy has to come in here and slowly work his way up from the bottom over 3-4 yrs. I don’t believe it. With that said, I think Devries is capable of pulling himself out of this nose dive with a good offseason. Crean did. But it’s hard to envision him having ultimate success here. Short of some sort of scandal, like hiring hookers for recruits, you couldn't get anyone if you fired a coach after year 1. Quote

Because who are you going to replace him with that's immediately available, that's GOOD and immediately available, and that's good, immediately available, and not going to use the majority of available coin in doing so? I never wanted them to hire Davis, that was an emotional decision that is always as death knell to programs. It was Bill Lynch in football. Crean deserved an extension. He earned it, and him completely burning the AAU and High School coaches in the midwest was not something anyone would have seen. Woody's extra year was bad, since it cost us May. I understand the logic from an on court perspective, and Steve Ferguson gave him a boost in money to go along with it, but it's not what most of us wanted, since it was obvious Woody wasn't the right guy. By why on earth are you blaming me for any of these decisions, I would have made almost none of them. I just think trying to fire a coach 18 games in makes you a dumb basketball fan. My gameplan that I had the team perform was clearly underwhelming. Maybe I should do better with them at practice. This is hysterical Quote

But I have disagreed with every hire the program has made since Knight was fired except for Sampson and Crean. Devries has an incomplete. I need to see more. HinnyHoosier 1 Quote
