Our UNDEFEATED  Hoosiers host the Bethune Cookman Wildcats (2-5) who have a hot and cold offense.  They scored over 90 in 2 games but in the last 2 games just 64 and 54 both losses.  The BC coaching staff has 2 pretty recognizable names.  First is its head coach Reggie Theus whose bio includes this.  During his NBA career, Theus scored 19,015 points, with 6,453 assists. The two-time all-star finished his career ranked 22nd all-time in career scoring and 11th in career assists. He currently ranks 63rd and 31st in career points and assists, respectively. At the time of his retirement, Theus was one of only five players to record over 19,000 points and over 6,000 assists. Theus is one of only two players in NBA history listed at 6'6" or taller to tally more than 750 assists in an NBA season (788 in 1985-86). The only other player to accomplish the feat is Hall-of-Famer Magic Johnson.  The second name is assistant coach Billy Garrett, whose father,  Bill Garrett, is recognized as the first African-American basketball player in the Big Ten Conference. He played at Indiana for three seasons and finished his collegiate career in 1951 as the program's all-time leading scorer. The All-American at Indiana was drafted by the Boston Celtics and he also played with the Harlem Globetrotters before becoming a Hall of Fame high school coach in Indiana.

BC shoots 46% FG and  35% on 3s.  They have a -2.3/gm rebounding margin but average 7 steals/gm.

I wonder if IU will do anything publicity-wise, at least on social media. The Bill Garrett story is pretty cool. There used to be a book—sold in the IU bookstore at one time, I believe—that covered his journey to and through IU. It was really good. Touched on Indiana HS basketball and his rivalry with Clyde Lovellette and then Herman B. Wells and McCrackens decision to bring in Garrett.

In any event, I hope IU does something to note that besides let the tv announcers mangle some in-game blurb.

Funny moment in the second half when one of the announcers said IU may have hit the jackpot with Cig and DeVries then goes "coaching is back in Bloomington" before correcting himself "I suppose I shouldn't say back. But coaching is here in Bloomington." Lol

Caught that too. That was cold.
