Does DDV have a connection with KJ? That hire kind of came out of nowhere!

I have seen his name brought up previously on the board I think, so maybe not so sudden. No idea what the connection is.

I think by now Kenny has a relationship with everyone. Good guy, he'll be on the road chasing ball players when he's 75. He's a lifer. He used to be THE guy as a recruiter. The young new splashy guys have caught up a little. Maybe he can catch Sorber after the combine and get him to IU. We are going to see alot of the dmv/east coast action pick-up. Adams just needs to lock-up Indy Elite. That's the only reason to have him on staff. Indiana aau and introduce coach to everyone that doesn't hate him.

I saw "Special Assistant to DeVries".  So not sure what exactly that entails... it sounds like a GM type role.

That’s what I had thought.

KJ was a hot commodity 10 years ago. Since then he has been  an assistant at Lasalle, Rhode Island and Georgetown lol!

And Louisville coming off a national title. His show-cause had a lot to do with that. Dude can recruit with the best of them.

Some of you guys are so dramatic and wouldn’t be happy no matter who we hired. Every single top school has been cheating for years. The Dukes, the North Carolinas and you have to be crazy to think that adidas isn’t/wasn’t helping us. I do not care what we have to do to win ball games!

Can’t confirm because of obvious reasons buuuuuttttt (-;

So we still have room for one more coach then?

Norton, Adams, and Johnson. Am I forgetting someone because that would mean two more assistant coaches if Bargen isn't one? Sturtz is probably going to be DOBO and not an assistant coach.

I agree that’s what I was confused about as well

I think it depends on Bargen’s role—if he’s a “GM” type alongside Sturtz then I guess that would leave 2 more spots to fill?

Yes he’s in an off court role it sounds like and not taking up one of the 5 spots. Chris said he’s the offensive coordinator so he must have a great offensive mind which if that’s the case I love the hire and it shows me DeVries will out his ego aside and do what’s best to succeed

If anyone 1) thinks McCollum is a great defensive coach (I do) and 2) watches Bradley’s win over Drake this past season then 3) Bargen’s pretty clearly an excellent offensive mind.

And evidently won’t count against the “5 coach” limit on bench coaches who can recruit off-campus, so DDV still has 2spots to fill alongside Norton, Adams and Johnson.

Unless he’s in line to replace Huss at High Point, I’ve got to think Corey Edwards could be a good addition to the new IU staff.

This is a really good post.  And that’s a good catch on Edwards. Wouldn’t think he’d be in on that job because he’s still so young, but an Asst job here would be a perfect next step.

I see Edwards was an assistant at Montverde. He'd probably still have connections there and have an in at Kevin Boyle's new school.

We also see what the player development is like at Montverde and it's good.

I agree, Edwards would be a good addition.
