I appreciate her weighing in, people repeat themselves here all the time, especially over the last 2 months.

Sharing info on the behind the scenes happenings regarding Stevens is what this thread is for and discussing whether he indeed backed out on Sunday or just said no for the final time.

I can also corroborate that he was never a yes - 8bucks knows where that confirmation came from and I think he would agree that person would know.

Right I get it.  She said Stevens was never a yes.  All I indicated is somebody started the rumor and let others know -- and that is how the rumor spread and how some became disappointed with the announcement.  Then she repeated herself.  I never said he was a yes.  Nor do I care.  Stevens has as many NCAA Championships as I do.

You heard back then. Would love to get the back stories from them.  Can you ask if they can help get my signed Archie ball replaced lol.

KathyC - can you confirm or elaborate on Iowa’s role early on in this process?  IU held leverage throughout and from what I can infer, maintained the upper hand during the entire process.

Everyone is absolved and who cares other than malice intent.  Let’s move on.  Stevens was never in play.  I said so 2 weeks ago.  Let’s not beat a dead horse.  Good times ahead.

Well if you said so. Lol

Stevens was never in play:

“Let me put a pin in that balloon too,” Grousbeck said when asked about the challenges of staying in the luxury tax. “It’s not the luxury tax bill, it’s the basketball penalties. The new CBA was designed by the league to stop teams from going crazy.

Grousbeck went on to describe the various team building basketball penalties involved with being a second apron, something the Celtics have been above for this season and the team’s championship run. While doing so, he dropped a very big hint about Boston’s plans for the upcoming ownership as new ownership is phased in.

“The basketball penalties mean that it’s even more of a premium now to have your basketball general manager be brilliant and lucky,” Grousbeck said. “Because you have to navigate because you can’t stay in the second-apron, nobody will, I predict, for the next 40 years of the CBA, no one is going to stay in the second apron more than two years.”

“We have Brad Stevens, the reigning Executive of The Year, and thank god we do,” Grousbeck said. “He’s the one who really brought us this championship with his brilliant moves --along with many other people -- but Brad is at the forefront. He’s looking at this and is going to extend our window and make it work. We’ll find out in June or July what we’re going to do.”
