Even Dolson’s acceptance statement is 5th candidate level stuff. Lol.

Always gonna root on my Hoosiers but Dolson panicked. No way DeVries was the choice a week ago. Because DeVries was gonna be dancing.

If you go by DeVries’ comments at the press conference, I’d venture to guess he’s been the choice for awhile now

That was awesome! I’m not sure why people don’t like Gary Parrish he seems very personable and he is 100% spot on with everything he said.

GP was like the only national guy hating on us for giving Woody an extra year and not hiring Dusty last season. He thought giving Woody a fourth and losing an alumni who was the hottest mid major guy on the market was insanity. So I appreciated that lol

For sure! He just seems to tell it like it is and I mean he’s personable and seems spot on.

He seems normal on his podcast, he comes off as an arrogant prick when he is on CBS!

It’s honestly probably what he’s told to be like for tv purposes

Could be, that is the first time I've ever listed to him off CBS and I didn't even think he sounded the same.

He can definitely be a bit trollish at times towards Indiana on the eye on college basketball podcast.  But I still listen to it, because it's good and clear he loves college basketball; which I don't think is true for everyone who covers the sport.

I can tell you I had a friend who worked for Missouri state police and when the riots of Ferguson happened the local CBS channel here came to interview the rioters and they were being respectful and peaceful and they were told get rowdy when cameras come on

Two different audiences, TV vs online.

TV viewers for the most part are casuals and they tune in to watch games but don't really value analysis. So they'll believe whatever they hear from the "expert" panel. TV analysts are told to just speak in an authoritative tone, even if they don't actually believe what they're saying themselves.

Online college basketball fans are actual fans of the sport and generally far more knowledgeable. They also can call BS much more easily, and have a direct line of communication with the talking heads. Thus any online analyst has to be smarter about they way they speak, and try harder to connect with fans rather than approach them with condescension and arrogance.

We, as a board, really need to come to a consensus on what we are going to call coach!  DD is Dan Dakich, so no.  I've seen D3, CDD, DDV.

My vote would be for CD3. What say you, BTB?

Maybe it would be a good idea to find out what HE wants to be called?

It's interesting how the national narrative about the IU job changes when IU goes a sitting P5 coach.

Before that happened, IU was delusional thinking they'd get anything other than a mid-major coach. Now it's IU is a higher tier job than WV so if course he took the job.

IUannon1976 is a new account and it hit this hire, I don't know what else it said or how right it's been on anything else.

Tyme was lost this entire time in this coaching search, and is just a poster from this board that is no more or less connected than other insiders on this board.  Nothing, and I mean nothing was gained from him this entire search.

ScottDolson'sBurner is a walk on player who never saw the floor (if he was a player at all) that simply regurgitates Woody's victim and entitled mentality that a lot of the team seemed to make their identity.   He also did not make one concrete addition to this search other than defending Woody's bad record, and thinks the kids don't want to play hard here because some small subsect of fans post mean awful stuff on social media.

Tyme's connections seemed to come from someone on the previous staff.  He definitely was being given some information.  But it's not a surprise he missed on who the hire was given that the current coaching staff would not have been given access to that decision.

I’ve heard several of his former colleagues and players call him D-Rock….i think that’s the nickname he goes by.

Well, go ask him and find out for me, please!

Sorry, if I could explain… wasn’t coming at you if it felt like that.

Was just trying to share that it might be better to go with what he would like to be called rather than people on a message board coming up with something.
