RaceToTheTop Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Just looking back at players whom IU pursued and where they are and what they are doing now. Trying to focus on players whom at least visited or there was serious interest from both sides. Ben Humrichous, Evansville., 6'9" forward. Transferred to Illinois. Started out hot for Illinois but has cooled off. 80% of his shots are from three. In 28.7 minutes is averaging 8.2 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist. Shooting 39/36/67. Leland Walker, Eastern Kentucky, 6'1" guard.. Transferred to Florida Atlantic. In 29.8 mpg, averaging 10.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 4.7 assists. Shooting 42/32/80. Low volume of three point shots. Elijah Malone, Grace College, 6'10" post. Transferred to Colorado. In 21.8 minutes has averaged 11.2 points and 3.8 rebounds. Shooting 64 / 33 (just 9 attempts) / 77. Zach Anderon, Florida GC, 6'7" forward. Transferred to George Mason. In 21.7 minutes has averaged 5.8 points, 3.1 reb, and 1.1 assists. Shooting 39/40/71. Bulk three point shooter. Connor Hickman, Bradley, 6'3" guard. Was probably the player that was closest to committing to IU but didn't. Transferred to Cincinnati where he has struggled. 21.7 mpg, 4.7 points, 2.6 reb, 1.2 assists. Shooting 38/27/50. Tony Perkins, Iowa, 6'4" guard. Transfered to Missouri. In 23.7 mpg, averaging 8.7 points, 2.5 reb, and 2.3 ast. Shooting 46/24/80. Riley Klugel, Florida, 6'5" G/F. Was one of the first players IU reached out to but quickly moved on from. Transferred to Mississippi State. In 21.7 minutes is averaging 10.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.6 assists. Shooting 48/30/74. cybergates and hoopsta007 2 Quote

Elijah Malone would have been an upgrade over Hatton. Beside that, not really any misses here. If only we could have got a real dog in Carlyle’s spot. We have needed a three level threat, get the ball in his hands at crunch time, 2 guard since………forever. Pre-season I thought that was one of our two biggest needs and hoped we would get a guy that was good enough to make it a no-brainer that Gallo should be our very capable 6th man. Looking like a swing and a miss. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote

Talk at the time was we wanted him but he wanted to handle the ball more, right? I don’t see that when I watch Xavier but he is really good. He would’ve been perfect as our second guard. I wonder if the staff didn’t pursue him or botched it and then leaked that rumor. Strange he wasn’t a top target. Home Jersey 1 Quote

Hard to believe he was actually on some 2025 draft boards. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote

I got hot when when I realized we weren't taking serious the idea of pursuing the best Indiana natives in the portal. We were being patronized with the Hickmans, Hatton, the shooter from Clemson and the late, half-assed efforts with Conwell and Humrichous. I wanted Gillespie at point, Conwell the 2 and Dre Davis at the 3. Ballo would be great with that and Mgbako. But my favorite player in the portal was Wolf. He might be the only big in the country that could work with Reneau. Right now I think Woody gets it and will hold Reneau out as long as possible. We'll see if winning matters more than whatever promise he gave Reneau in the off season. Juwan Moye 1 Quote

How he's used is another question. WayneFleekHoosier and Pagoda 2 Quote

That's would be pretty shady. I doubt it. Sent from my SM-A146U using Tapatalk Quote
Home Jersey Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Wasn’t Claude from USC briefly on our portal target list? Could be mistaken Quote

I don't think we gained much traction with him, but he's doing well at Xavier. The one under-the-radar guy I was clamoring for that never received IU interest was VCU's Toby Lowal. English kid who can leap out of the building and was raw. 6'8" kid who mostly played inside but was starting to develop a mid range game. Not eye popping stats, averaged 7.7 points and 6.0 rebounds but did that in 19 minutes per game and was very efficient. He ended up at Virginia Tech where he is their leading scorers. 12.3 points and 5.7 rebounds in 25 minutes/game. Shooting 62% overall and 38% from three (on 24 attempts) in 15 games. Quote

The injury may allow Woodson to bring him back in slowly and see how matchups work. Quote
realTomCrean Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Want to give myself a pat on the back for saying last spring that Javon Small was the absolute #1 must get. Total dawg Quote
