He's no George, but I think I'd take a long hard look at Yanni Karlaftis.

This is a fascinating case, given his family's legacy in West Lafayette I could see the right coach pulling him back from the portal - similar to CCC and Mike Katic.  With that said, I hope the staff takes a look.

If he had only played 4 games in 21-24, then he could RS that year and still play.

One of those 5 seasons in 6 years is the 2020 season.

I think my CJ West-sized confusion comes from taking his redshirt in 2020. Let's find some BS waiver to get him another year.

Yes, I believe that they got to play in 4 seasons other than that one. Since he redshirted that year, it was basically a waste of the COVID year.

File this in the void that is Portal-palooza, but Nebraska LB StefonThompson entered the portal this afternoon and is (1) being followed by Haines and (2) has elicited an intriguing response from D'Angelo Ponds's father on X.

I am not sure if there is/what the connection is with the Ponds family and Thompson -  but I am 100% on-board with the Ponds bat signal for this portal season.

Another name to watch...

WR Trayvon Rudolph from NIU (Cig and Shanahan started following this afternoon)

There’s your guy. 5’10”, 185 and all of his highlights are him getting a reverse or jet sweep and outrunning people for 70 yards. Lots of catches too, but averaging over 1.5 carries per game for the past two years.

Winner winner turkey week dinner.

Clearly Cig knows what he needs to compete. Fingers crossed he can get the players he wants.

This is probably the most important recruiting/transfer season in IU football history. If Cig can repeat this performance. 10 or so wins all of a sudden he has what no IU coach has been able to do in decades. Build momentum.

He also completed 3 of 4 passes for 59 yards at NIU in his career and returned 65 kickoffs for an average of 22 yards/return.

This is interesting because it looks like he’s already played 4 full years plus taken a RS year. 1st year was ‘20. Looks like he redshirted in ‘22. So I’m not sure how he has another year, but, hell, anymore who knows?
