According to ESPN Stats Kel’el is the 1st player with a 20/15/2 line in his 1st career start since David freaking Robinson. So 35 years. Stuhoo and Class of '66 Old Fart 2 Quote

Stuhoo Posted July 21 Posted July 21 KelEl Ware seems like a really nice young man, his talent is undeniable, and he was drafted by one the best organizations in the league; he has everything going for him and had a promising rookie season. Given all of that, being called out by name by Spoelstra is not good at all: Quote

I think Spo is trying to do what many of his previous coaches have tried and that is to light an extra fire. But as you say, a public call out is an escalation in the attempts. rayl456 1 Quote

A really nice summer league game or two followed. That's 'nice', but Spo's standards are guys like Bam Adebayo that play to rip the souls out of their opponents every time they lace up. It’s worth a shot from Spo though. Stuhoo and MemphisHoosier 2 Quote
HoosierHoopster Posted July 21 Posted July 21 ^^ You guys do realize that Ware was was one of the top rooks in the League, all-rookie second team and got votes for rookie of the year, right? As a rook, he started 36 games, averaged 9 and 7 and 1.1 blocks, including 15 double doubles and 26 games with double digit scoring. Spo will call out professionalism and make sure guys are on board with his demands, but Ware is highly valued and for good reason. Stuhoo 1 Quote

I think he’s a really nice young guy, and that his talent is limitless. The Heat are trying to spur him into becoming a relatively bargain draft position version of Chet Holmgren or Victor Wembanyama. And they’ve got a chance with KelEl. Quote

Yes he is. And if he wasn’t playing in the age of Wemby he’d probably have a decent shot at DPOY somewhere down the road. MemphisHoosier 1 Quote
