He's likely wanting substantial minutes. This is one of the difficult positions for a team like IU, who is rebuilding their whole team. Everyone seems to want a shot of starting. Its going to be difficult to find really high-quality backups. This is why program stability is so important. You've got to have guys on the roster to fill those positions, at least ideally, and then just use the portal to go after a few studs. I hope our coaches are really good salesmen. skhoosier2 and Jeff Flabjohns 2 Quote

Shooter Posted Wednesday at 02:01 PM Posted Wednesday at 02:01 PM It will be interesting to see how people respond to the double big lineup, after all the hand wringing about it under Woodson. str8baller 1 Quote

Both Samet and Sherrell played in demonstrably faster paced offenses last year than we did. They can play in tempo if DeVries decides he wants to push the pace. Double big lineup was never the issue under Woodson. Lack of guard play however, woof. Juwan Moye, GloryDays, NVFalcons1990 and 7 others 8 2 Quote

I think it’ll be fine because no one expects Darian to say “it’s not my job to get open shots for three point shooters” or similar nonsense. jermhoosierfan, Crimson and Cream, Pagoda and 6 others 8 1 Quote

I agree poor guard play, and playing slow no-defense Mgbako as a 3 were big issues with his last 2 teams. NVFalcons1990 1 Quote

I don't think it was the double big lineup but how it was being used. You see it works with UM and plenty of other teams. Woodson never assembled a team that worked together that was the biggest issue with his lineups/teams. BGleas, NVFalcons1990 and Juwan Moye 3 Quote

For sure, I trust Devries much more than Woodson. Teams can obviously win with two big lineups, we were just a high profile example of doing it poorly in the recent past. Juwan Moye 1 Quote

RoderickJaynes Posted Wednesday at 02:07 PM Posted Wednesday at 02:07 PM What does a successful day portal wise look like today for everyone? The obvious is a sherrell announcement. Beyond that, my largest priority would be locking up a visit from Jake hall as well as a back up point guard. Pagoda, Shooter and skhoosier2 3 Quote

My feeling is that the Sherrell commit is imminent and the starting front court is set. Rancik was probably looking for a starting role and that’s unlikely to happen here. Hard to see him upset at being a bench spot minutes player at a national title contender to play the same role at an albeit much improved IU but not natty level team. A lot of schools can promise a big bag and starting role if they really want Reibe as a starter. Not surprisingly Big East teams like St John’s and Providence are up there for him. 68Hoosier, Home Jersey, Silat Player and 1 other 3 1 Quote
