The "Big" market is going to be insane this off-season, and almost every team is going to have to "overpay" to an extent. IU needs at least 2 centers, and it seems like Fru is a very solid option to take one of those spots. I wonder if the possibility of Fru came up when the UofL Carr interviewed Quote

I’m confident that most of school budget numbers we’re hearing are probably at least in the ballpark but the player expectations are agent driven nonsense BtownStrength, Stuhoo, Class of '66 Old Fart and 4 others 7 Quote

He’s not a high usage player which I don’t think is DeVries forte anyway. Stupid efficient around the rim with solid rebounding and block rates. Not a wow athlete but isn’t going to be overwhelmed by the size and athleticism in this league. He’s a platoon player that can probably max out at 25mpg. They’ll be bringing in another big, hopefully one with multiple years of eligibility. I like the Gurdak kid from Virginia Tech. 6’10 260 freshman who made 10 starts. Not a flashy stat line but was productive enough in limited minutes. Not sure he’s good enough to command a high pay day and larger role on a good P5 team just yet but would be a solid backup for most anybody. Hardwood83 1 Quote

Some thought Kwame Evans at first. But Fru makes much more sense and saddens me a bit. I guess I’ll have to get over that I don’t love our starting 5 right out of the gate. Im going to hold onto hope until the hope is completely gone though. Do we have our starting 5? I don’t think so but would guess Fru and Burton are two good bets to join it. The announcement of Carr and the timing of Fru entering the portal give off decent tea leaves and the ND boards seem pretty resigned to the fact Burton is going to IU. Saw someone else mention Houston, and I guess good for Burton if he can land in that program, but he doesn’t seem like a Sampson guard at all. Quote

I guess from a staff that settled on Bailey and Alexis as our only bigs I shouldn’t be surprised. And we had to sign an assistant and pay a hefty bag to get priority. Can’t we at least call P. Payne and beg and plead before we settle. Or Malachi Moreno. Or the Stud from Cincinnati, or, or, or. Or wait. Tamper. Do something. It also means he’s our high priced big which means he’ll be our best front court guy. Assuming it’s him. But man, it sure does feel that way. Quote

BA47591 Posted April 3 Posted April 3 I bet we've done some tampering. This time around when we get visits, we'll close. Quote

Just saying—they were both 1st year college players and Fru was WAY better than Moreno. Moreno has skills that will allow him to be a scorer down the road, but Fru seems way more athletic and active. Not sure settling is the word I’d use for a starting center on a top 20 team that’s super efficient with good defensive metrics. But to each their own. But he’s a good player with direct connections to the staff. And if he’s ready to commit when the portal opens next week, you take a starting caliber big from a top 20 team. He’s one of the best 3-4 centers in the portal. Quote
