I’m beating the Jasai Miles drum pretty hard have really really like what I’ve seen from his tape

Miles was a pretty high usage player last year.

A) can he willing accept a lesser role playing alongside DeVries and Wilkerson

B) is he efficient enough to be a consistent 3 and D player? He was a good, not great 3 point shooter on volume this past season.

UNF was horrific defensively last year as a unit, but appears he may possess some quality individual defensive traits. Definitely an intriguing prospect with multiple years of eligibility remaining

I would like to think with the focus not just on him like it was at N Florida he would be more efficient, but like you said not as many shots so we’d have to sell him on that role.

Are we thinking Overton is Iowa bound following his HS head coach who they hired as an assistant or not necessarily?

Iowa just signed a shooter out of Kansas State who will surely start with Stirtz. Plus four other Drake players, mostly wings and guards. Plus a kid from Utah Valley on campus now. So they might not have room for Overton (or maybe they couldn’t afford him).

I absolutely love that this meme has a completely different meaning for me than it did before the coaching search thread lol

From now on it's a meme to me lmao. I will bust it out at every opportunity.

For the record I'm mocking myself as much as anyone because I got duped by this stupid gif multiple times. But it is also not-so-subtly pointed at RTZ (and IUFB on Peegs).

It's not gonna be option C. I doubt it's D. Maybe Devries is more athletic than I think and capable of guarding 3s full time. But if not, Bailey is going to have to play some center for those two to get on the court together.

Yep. I was going over this yesterday with another poster. Same as last year when people were holding onto the small ball fantasy while Woody was loading up on bigs: if you start to do the min distribution you’ll get a feel for the lineups we will use.

At this point there is not much way Bailey can play 30 + min a night unless he can credibly guard B1G centers for 20-ish min a night. Otherwise he’ll probably play in the low 20min range and be our “6th starter” whose versatility allows him to fill in a variety of roles—Tuckers main backup and backup center with a variety of good defenders at the other spots.

Or he starts at C, plays 30min (20 of which would have to be alongside Tucker), and CDD feels like he can scheme around those defensive deficiencies enough because the offense is so good.

It is interesting to watch the roster come together and Bailey (and to a much lesser extent Sisley) is a big variable right now.

If Bailey is IU's starting/primary Center, I will be: A) Surprised B) Concerned defensively

Huh

I will be surprised if he's not and will be ecstatic lol ..   I just prefer to be skilled.

Different strokes for different folks.

I share your concern, but here are our options:

A. Play a center with Devries and Bailey. (Which means Devries guards a wing)

B. Play a big wing with Devries and Bailey. (Which means Bailey guards a center)

C. Don't play Devries and Bailey together at all.

D. Play zone.

It's not gonna be option C. I doubt it's D. Maybe Devries is more athletic than I think and capable of guarding 3s full time. But if not, Bailey is going to have to play some center for those two to get on the court together.

B. That's how we're recruiting and that's what he showed at WVU.

give me conerway, two more wings(miles/ward) and 1 true center off bench behind Bailey(Charleston or Syracuse kid) PLUS a returning Goode at a minimum

Add a couple freshman, including Acaden Lewis, and this would be pretty ideal.
