Transfer Portal w IU Interest

i don’t think we need to worry too much about not getting a star point guard because we take Enright. I think if last year taught us anything, the weight of the bag we are throwing around is absolutely going to get us a few star players. I trust this staff is going to build pieces that fit. I feel fully confident we will probably grab 5-6 players of Enright caliber.

i also feel very confident we will have Tucker and 2-3 additional “stars” from the portal. We are going to have one of the best rosters money can buy. How it’s put together and how it’s coached will be the variables because we’ve seen that grabbing three “stars” from the portal doesn’t mean anything.

Depends on if there were red flags or if it was more Purdues fault he left

Supposedly decommited from Purdue because they wouldn't promise him the court time he wanted.  That said, he ended up at 17 minutes/game at BYU but his minutes were going down by the end of the year -- just 8 total minutes in his last two games.

Yeah just doesn’t seem like a fit for what CDV is trying to achieve

One thing DeVries stated in the opening press conference was he does promise things that he wouldn't follow through on.  Just from his demeanor he seems more in the camp of telling kids that 'this is where he seems them helping the team out' as opposed to promising minutes/starting positions.

I am quite sure that Catchings decommitted from Purdue because BYU is absolutely loaded with NIL and he got a significantly better offer than PU was going to give him.

Yes.  Also a factor to some extent could have been his OTE coach joined BYU as an assistant right before he left PU.

That was a funny decommit — PU was coming off a title game appearance and somehow lost their top ranked recruit.

Someone got in his ear at overtime elite about his NIL value. He was a 6'6" wing in the 40's when he committed to Purdue and grew a little bit and played his way into a higher tax bracket. With Dybansta coming he might look to move.

I truly don’t think that any coach promises starting spots.

I do think some start really high ranked kids that don’t deserve it to attract future high ranked kids.

Not starting spots, but I believe Woodson promised guys a certain amount of minutes, which is why we saw the hockey substitutions. Only when he realized that his job was in jeopardy did he shorten the bench and put the best guys on the floor

Bryson Tucker says that promise was broken.
