Alford Bailey Posted April 12, 2024 Posted April 12, 2024 Well some UK fans want Barnhart fired immediately and others don’t even know who Pope is. Quote

Smarter, more engaged and engaging, more connected and committed to the program, runs a modern offense, and will cost a ton less. Alford Bailey Posted April 12, 2024 Posted April 12, 2024 Well now let’s see who Pope can keep on the roster or will they follow Cal? This is awesome! HoosierTrav 1 Quote

Like the last four straight years with at least one five star added, and TONS of NBA connections? You just described Woody. They went for a low key college coach who has substance and runs a modern system. Isn’t that a good thing? Quote
Josh Posted April 12, 2024 Posted April 12, 2024 I've been told by many UK fans that IU is not a power program anymore. I can't wait to tell them that they're not either! Home Jersey and 94Bulldog 1 1 Quote

A good day for UK basketball, whether their dumbass fans understand that or not. Calipari just finished t-2nd in the SEC at 13-5. He had another great class coming in. He’s not as good as he was pre-covid, but saying Pope is a “significant upgrade” is an exaggeration… He has 0 tournament wins in 9 seasons as a coach. You don’t push Calipari out to hire someone with his resume. Home Jersey and IUc2016 2 Quote
Uspshoosier Posted April 12, 2024 Posted April 12, 2024 Should show people where college basketball is right now to head coaches. This isn’t the old days anymore. If you got a good thing elsewhere you don’t need the brand names to gain exposure. Every game is televised somewhere. Back in the day it wasn’t like that. At least Kentucky went with a college basketball guy (who runs elite offensive sets). Not the big splash fans would want but a guy that will make them competitive. Good hire for them just won’t win the press conference go iu bb, BannerVille, Ryno6284 and 2 others 3 2 Quote

I’ve been begging for that! I haven’t heard anything positive about Pope. I think he’s gone in 3 years. Quote

Popular Post Stuhoo Posted April 12, 2024 Popular Post Posted April 12, 2024 Pope is a better, safer, more likely to succeed coach than Calipari, than Woodson, and dare I say, a better hire than a 64 year old Pearl or a 71 year old Pitino. I swear, some people want a guy that can put a fantasy football style roster together. Me? I’d like to hire a coach that runs cutting edge schemes, can build a culture, and can last 20 years if he’s really good. Hell we hired Moren from Indiana State, where she was only 67-59 as a head coach. All steak—no sizzle. Great coach. Of course Pope might not work out; that’s true for every coach. Calipari choked in the tournament the past three years which is why UK fans wanted him gone so bad (imagine them with our results), but his teams were still pretty good in the regular season/conference play. 39-15 (72.2%) in the SEC the past three seasons. Woody, for example, is 31-29 in a worse conference. Maybe the Pope does well but I highly doubt he’ll win enough to satisfy the UK fanbase. Quote
