We may have clinched ‘no play in.’

Guaranteed ahead of Rutger, Maryland, and Michigan, could tie with OSU but we hold the tie breaker there.

I think the problem could be in a multiple team tie if Penn State is involved.  Have to check.

Probably the best win all season. We tried to give up that 19 point lead but held on!

X still rusty. Him clicking on all cylinders playing under control could give us what we need to do some damage from here on out.

sleeping well tonight on this W…..

He is much better defensively than Cupps for one.

I’ll give him credit, he helps us push pace as well.

I’ve noticed the last 3 games we’ve really been pushing the ball, from the tip.

If we lose and PSU wins Sunday, we’re the 11 seed with them the 10.

There is still a scenario where IU ends up in the play in game -- the following results would have to all happen:

IU loses to Michigan State

Rutgers wins at Wisconsin

Rutgers beats Ohio State

Penn State beats Maryland

Minnesota wins at Northwestern

All are certainly possible, but the likelihood of all five events occurring isn't real high.

In the above scenario, Minnesota would be 10-10 and IU, Rutgers, and Penn State would all be 9-11 and one of the 9-11 teams would be in the play in games -- that would be IU since their record against Penn State and Rutgers would be 0-3. If all of the above happens EXCEPT Minnesota beats Northwestern, then Minnesota, IU, Rutgers, and Penn State would all be 9-11 and one of the 9-11 teams be in the play in game.  In that case, the tiebreaker is record among that group:

Rutgers would be 1-2;  IU would be 2-3;  Minnesota would be 3-2; and Penn State would be Penn State would be 3-2.  By winning percentage, Rutgers would be the 11 seed and in the play in and IU would be the 10 seed.

IF IU were to beat Michigan State on Sunday, then IU will be at worst the 7 seed in the BTT and any tie they had with any other 10-10 team would result in Indiana seeded above them because Indiana is undefeated against all potential 10-10 finishers.  Best seed possibility is 5.

The last couple of games we've has crews that didn't call a lot of fouls.  There were just 21 total in this game. Hopefully, this will continue against Michigan State and the BTT.  We benefit when fewer foul are called in the game.  Our defense needs Ware on the court and not sitting with fouls. Fewer fouls means that we shoot fewer free throws and we all know we are terrible at the line.

Believe it takes more than just that.  Michigan and Maryland can not finish ahead of IU.   It is impossible for BOTH Ohio State and Rutgers to tie with IU since they would need to beat each other to get to 9-11, so that means either Ohio State or Rutgers is guaranteed to finish behind IU.  Worst case would be Ohio State since they help IU in tiebreakers, so let's assume the worst case scenario of Rutgers winning out.

That puts Michigan, Maryland, and Ohio State all firmly behind IU.  Any other team that doesn't get to 9 wins would be behind IU, so let's assume that Penn State wins and Rutgers wins as well to get them to 9 wins.  In that scenario, IU would drop to the 11 seed -- unless Minnesota also finished with 9 wins, which would occur if they lose at Northwestern.  In the scenario of a four way tie between IU, Minnesota, Rutgers, and Penn State all tieing the tiebreaker goes to head to head among that group of four.  Minnesota and Penn State are 3-2, IU 2-3, Rutgers 1-2.  That would put Rutgers at the 11 seed and IU at the 10.

So I believe the scenario I posted in the post above is the only scenario that has IU finishing in the play in game -- Rutgers wins at Wisky and then at home against Ohio State;  IU loses to  Michigan State;  Penn State beats Maryland, and Minnesota wins at Northwestern.  Pom puts the probability of all five events occurring at 0.9%.

I think they are gearing up for the NCAA tournament, they don’t call a lot of fouls in the tournament and they try to let the games flow and players play.  When they start letting teams play and calling less fouls, that helps a team like ours and hurts a team like Turdue

I’m sure he’ll go through the pre-draft process, and he should, but I kinda think he plays another year. I just really hope it’s here.

He’s really starting to play like many of us expected him to.  My guess he’s a 2nd rounder, G League player but if Woodson can convince him to come back next year and not transfer, he could be someone to build around.  I was thinking this, Mgbako is starting to slash and play a lot like Calbert.  I can see he’s been working with him

The recruiting pitch for Mgbako is hopefully already ongoing... up the NIL, make you the feature piece of the offense, and after another year of hard work... way better draft position. Hope we can sell him on it.
