They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread

Most coaches talked a mid court before tip off but didn't shake hands after the game. Believe what you want but I witnessed those games.

Ok so by that logic I'm delusional and never saw the handshake lines I thought I did. Got it. You're right Scott, I'm wrong. Handshake lines have never been a thing and I retract my previous statement, and I guess Google is lying to me as well. Or I just can't read.

Yeah if the play was to throw it in the corner outside the 3 point line down 1 point with less the 4 seconds left with your best offensive rebounder on the bench just taken out in a mass confusion sub situation also taking out your mascot(Leal) then sending Malik to screen over in the corner with his defender to put the max amount of people in a small space then of course Woody knows what he is doing.

I did the run on sentence kinda on purpose to show what a cluster F it was.

Well, it was supposed to be the 'picket fence', but none of the team had ever seen Hoosiers or knew what that was.

Every situation is different, but absent a Kenny Payne style meltdown or a complete player revolt some sane minds have been consistently saying that March will be the end (other sane minds have disagreed). I suppose consecutive 25+ point losses could still prompt that implosive change and given the road ahead that’s possible but not likely.

After the Iowa and Illinois games a complete meltdown looked imminently possible but we followed that debacle with a road win and two straight competitive losses. So for now, on we go to the end of the season before Woody’s departure is official.

Yeah, but Friday's coming... followed closely by Tuesday...

True. But while “competitive losses” are a shitty standard, that’s the standard for avoiding mid-season replacement, with all the bad PR and hyper-drama that would accompany it.

Does anything change after the Friday/Tuesday double crap fest?

Today Dakich spent the first hour of his show ranting about how much IU is paying assistants and others connected to the program. Hunter and Rosemond are making $500K each and Randy Wittman is making $130K as a consultant. DD says it is money laundering! He also doubled down on Ballo telling Woody to F off and he might be reading this forum because he said people on message boards saying he doesn't know what he is talking about are full of it!

Dan Dakich can F off. And he isn't reading this forum.  EVERY Indiana forum knows he doesn't know what he's talking about.

Lou Watson quit at the end of the season, while Knight wasn’t fired during the season, nor was Davis, nor Dakich, nor Crean, nor Miller. Sampson was. In football, Pont, Corso, Cameron, DiNardo, Lynch, Wilson and Allen were all at the end of the season. Wyche left for the Bengals, Mal was let go the week before the season ended.

Nonsense. Historically inaccurate  that only can exist on the back of semantics.

Just because I like to be entertained I would love to hear you and scottR and AH explain to me how Sampsons resignation was a “firing” but  Davis’ wasn’t and was a true “resignation.”

Oh I remember now…Davis wanted to let his adoring fans at IU down easy as he climbed the coaching ranks to take on the All Time Great Blazers of UAB!!!  Thanks for the early notice, Mike!

Whatever happened to that Davis character? The way he left here successfully, clearly using the IU job as a stepping stone, he’s gotta be coaching the Lakers by now. Maybe even the Olympic team!

@ap2345 We need to take our info to DM's since we give so many people bad info. We might as well include @JerryYeagley23too. Then people like Scotty and AH 1925, and Cathy don't have to read it.

Might be a good idea. Keep the trolls from complaining.

Not sure I understand the comparison.

What did TKR do during his FR year? and he was even of age. Jack Benter is a name to remember that RSing now for Purdue.

TKR never left a 29-6 Big Ten champion Purdue's rotation.  Bryson Tucker has and it's a team has Anthony.Leal. in the rotation.

Your thought that Bryson Tucker 'should be redshirting' is absurd.  No one is redshirting' McDonald's AA's unless there is just that much immense talent above them.

I think KathywithaC is correct that he isn’t getting fired mid season, for now. I think a lot of fans are projecting a tire fire because of the games coming up. But they aren’t losses yet. Lose the next 4-5 games and then things might change quickly. But as of now he still has a path to a tournament birth. IU won’t fire a coach on this position. Let Woodson fail on his own terms. No need to rush a firing until it’s good enough for the big boosters. Their money is needed for future recruiting for both football and basketball.

They got caught watching the paint dry.
We're gonna run the picket fence at 'em! Malik, you're the swing man. Miles, you're solo right! Alright, Miles should be open swingin' around the end of that fence! Now, boys, don't get caught watchin' the paint dry!" #

No. TKRs FR year he RS. He was ranked 44th in his class...

Sorry my opinion is "let's do what's best for the kid"

Bryson should be kept and developed. There's a lot there to work with.
