I agree and lets hope it follows this way. It's best for both parties. I think the choice will be on Woodson which way he wants this to go based on his actions after.

I'll go on record today that outwardly it won't be messy.  He will retire; it won't be a firing.  In the end, Buckner will make sure that he exits gracefully at least to the outside world.  Behind the scenes, I suspect we'll never see him in Bloomington again.

IDK...I think you're halfway joking here but Carlyle looks like a major whiff on the scouting end. Certainly not as talented as he was made out to be, and that's from eye test alone...and I don't think it's going to take "a snap of the finger" and all of a sudden he's going to be the player he was touted to be. Maybe he can be, but it's going to take dedication and long hours....and unfortunately, we always seem to hear or think a player or multiple players are going to be really good...more often than not, it doesn't turn out to be that way. Maybe  the Bloomington night life plays a roll... see Ballo.

They likely just saw his high ranking on the portal board. But he played for a really bad Stanford team.

Scathing is an understatement.
If we lose at home to Rugers and get blown out by PSU at the Palestra, things could get interesting in a hurry. I don't think that will happen, but if it does the noise will be deafening.

We will have to play much better than we have imo. We can definitely win 1 or both but the eye test says otherwise. I will say woody has surprised me a couple times when I thought the team was done. Hopefully he can pull another miracle off and win both. I still think he is gone by February. That's my most likely scenario imo

We will never see him again. He doesn't really care about the program as a whole. He cares about himself. He didn't bridge anything all he did was divide. I hope he never comes back.

I’m virtually certain PSU game will be a loss since I’ll be there lol. Rutgers I think we should win but can very easily see Harper and Bailey go off on us. Things are about to get interesting! I hope we avoid the worst case scenario

They probably picked IU because we threw the most money at them. In reality, outside of maybe a couple of players, I don't think many of these guys care about Indiana like we do...at least they don't play like it. I would love to be proved wrong about this...but laughing on the bench up 3 against Winthrop doesn't quell this thinking. One can only hope, they prove us wrong.

Yeah definitely half joking but I do think he probably goes elsewhere and becomes a double digit scorer/plays an entirely different role where he is actually set up to succeed. Similar to Bates at Mizzou or Banks at Tulane.

If I had to guess, I'd say the remainder of this season will be a linear journey, with a rigid proscribed set of waypoints, leading without exception to a logical and predictable conclusion.

I can guarantee you that it's not happening at Indiana under Mike Woodson. There's no "teaching" or "coaching" or "developing" going on here... just a bunch of overpaid wanna-bees doing their thing without guardrails, direction or consequences... and the Parasite Clown leading the parade down the street.

He can make all the noise that he want's to make. His 4-year record more than speaks for itself. He's the king of "self". Period.

To be fair to Carlyle and the other players, there seems to be no rhyme or reason to Woodson's substitutions.  We have 8 players averaging over 19 minutes a game.  No one is averaging 30 minutes per game.  Woodson needs to figure out his 5 players that mesh the best and give them the bulk of the minutes. Rice and Ballo should be playing at least 32 minutes per game. We need to develop chemistry amongst a core group.  Trying to get 8 players significant minutes does not help with chemistry.
