In 4 years under him, we saw a bunch of the same stuff as under Woodson, except with less talent (thus lower potential to actually be good) and 2 fewer trips to the NCAAT. Woodson is better than Miller. Extremely low bar so saying that doesn't mean that I'm saying Woodson is a good coach. He's not. Yeah, Miller sucked. My post was not about that or comparing Miller to Woodson... I simply stated that Woodson was wasting lots of money on good players because he's incapable of coaching them.

Quinn bailed his pal out from his failed NBA career where no one would hire him as a HC for seven years. Woody makes 4x what he made in the NBA, basically $16M extra to Woody vs his NBA career. This is what Quinn cares about, he doesn’t care about the results in the court, I’m sure he rationalizes the losing by comparing Woody to Archie or something like that. Do you think he’s at least getting a kick back? I would demand 10%. At least. He can’t be making much as a color guy. Kick-back Quinn…has a nice ring to it!

Under RMK, every 4 years we won the BT and every 5ish years a national championship. The one exception to the title timing was when Henderson blew his knew but we still made the FF. Then under Davis, the team RMK had made it back again. Credit to both there. Crean's highs are better than everyone since RMK sans Kelvin but his lows were frustrating. I do wonder what he would be like with NIL and quick roster turnover (Perfect for creaning) but there may be a reason he is not coaching now.

RMK clearly built teams through recruiting cycles to be competitive every 3-4 years. It’s almost a forgotten concept. Crean was always going to be susceptible to teams who could slow him down in the half court because he relied on transition so much. His defenses without zeller were mostly brutal. Woodson-esque for different reasons. He was never going to be a championship coach. cthomas 1
realTomCrean Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 A slow Friday before playing no-name state.. Crean, Archie, Woody. Rank them. Go! 1. Crean 2. Archie 3. Woody

NIL aside, Crean was not what I would consider a good coach. Better than Woody, sure. Better than Archie, no question. Crean finished his career at UGA 25 games below .500 in SEC play. He somehow managed to miss the tournament and only go 16-16 with Anthony Fn Edwards. I think Woody has people looking at Crean with rose colored glasses. Anywho, fire Mike Woodson. go iu bb, str8baller, Home Jersey and 2 others 4 1

That said, Quinn is a partner at a wealth management firm. His role is no doubt sourcing clients. I don’t know, but I can guess who is a client there, and the firm gets a fee on all that money IU pays Woody. If so, there is the kickback. This could be a decent little story for a journalist to check into. Could be a conflict worth reporting on. Edited December 6, 2024 by Pagoda Home Jersey, str8baller, raorIU and 1 other 4

I'm not a staunch Crean defender...but I do think he gets a bad wrap for how things ended for him in Georgia when looking at his overall career. Not saying he is a great coach, but definitely not a bad one. He won 400+ games as a Head Coach. At Marquette he won 70% of his games the final 7 years, took them to the tourney 5 times and made a final four. Came to IU and went from walk on's year 1 to the #1 team in the country in year 5. Won multiple big ten championships, was named national and big ten coach of the year, took us to three sweet 16's and is third in all time wins at IU. I remember pulling my hair out with the defense, but his offenses were fun to watch. Where we have been since him...I'd take a couple big ten titles, fun offenses and sweet 16 runs.
