R u insane! Seriously this is ridiculous. Crean coached circles around Woodson. He sucked but this is next level!

Crean was better. We basically wasted 8 years since crean with awful hires.

No.  I think a few people are saying that but the majority are saying that it is time to move on after this year.  Me personally, removing my distatse for how he acts, I don't think Woodson is worth the squeeze after this year.  He isn't a championship level coach and if we roll out the same payroll for the next guy, there are probably a hundred better options than him out there.

Firing him now doesn't really change anything, but if I was Dolson my mind would already be made up that this is his swan song.....now whether or not Scott has the political capital to pull that off will probably depend on how the year goes.  If I were him though, a good Woodson season I would send him off a "hero" and a bad season I would have him "retire", but at the end of the day, this would be his last year if I were Dolson and there were no other interests involved.

So, he’s gone no matter what?

Just to play devils advocate, I’d say the cig hire was a home run. Giving him that extension is upping the stakes. Plenty of schools have handed out big contracts to coaches after an initial bout of success and then regretted it. Call up your friendly Florida state fan if you want horror stories.

As far as basketball didn’t dolson lead the failed Steven’s hire which led to Woody? And didn’t dolson give Woody a raise?

Also, where would all the trust of dolson come from? If IU does things by committee wouldn’t those people want credit for hiring cig? And wouldn’t they want. a say in the next big hire?

(again, ftr I’m a cig fan)

The important but part of the contract was the raise for assistant coaches. $11M. That's elite level. O$U's assistant coach budget is less than $1M more and they hire big names as their assistants such as Chip Kelly. So that is a big deal. All CCC really has to do is be a good CEO of the program which he has shown he can be. He has shown he can not only identify talent in players (with the help of his assistant coaches) but he can identify talented assistant coaches. When these assistant coaches leave to become HCs themselves, I am confident he'll find good replacements. The added money for assistant coaches will also help retain them for longer than they may have otherwise been here.

Maybe you need to start backing off and come down off your high horse.  This is a Fire Coach Woodson thread and the novelty of your schtick at trying to prop him up has worn very thin with a lot of people.

Not propping him up in any way. I’ve already said I’d be shocked if he’s retained, and I wouldn’t oppose it unless he has great success this year. People see what they want, not what’s actually there.

Honestly, I want MW gone yesterday but I really don’t think she’s propping up MW, only SD or at least defending him and possibly the Administration.  MW’s actions and demeanor have put the university and SD in a bad spot and bad light!

It’s Chris “Mullin”, not “Mullins”. A basketball fan would know this.

Your right. I don't believe he knows a dang thing. The most uninformed poster on here. Glad somebody is finally calling him out with his stats and other nonsense.

Not defending any of them, only telling people how they work.
