This is tough because I want to love all the Hoosier legends.  I believe Woody has the best intentions and genuinely wants IU to be great but........

I don't know.  If he did he would work harder and show some self-reflection/criticism.

I'm almost certain he likes the money and the power.  He was stuck as an NBA assistant for seven years, no one would hire him as a head coach again, and he was making around $1M.  Quinn gets him in here and he is making $3M now $4M -- this contract was a $15M boost to his bottom line.  I would guess he invests all the extra money with Quinn's wealth management firm.

He's no longer a random assistant, at IU he's top dog ("King of Indiana" at golf tournaments) and there are plenty of people around to suck up to him.  For those who don't like him, he's got protection from Quinn.  I'm sure he rationalizes his failures by comparing himself to Archie or something like that.

It's a shame he is the coach.  IUBB can be really special, but as of now IUBB exists to serve Mike.

To the basketball world and the fans...

Just because "we always have" doesn't mean that it's the right way or that we should continue. Remember the definition of insanity.

Do you really think the kids in the NIL/portal era come to play for a petty and mediocre coach? It's all about the Benjamins...

The “basketball world” shouldn’t be our concern, and the vast majority of the fans aren’t as panicked as a few people on the internet who take tiny amounts of rumor and innuendo and convert it into fact at the speed of light.

Woodson has his hands full and he’s very likely approached it wrong from Day One. There’s been some blow back related to recruiting that’s reminiscent of the Mike Davis years, and it’s really troubling. I wouldn’t wager dollar one that he’s our coach come April. But our troubles started years ago, beginning from the time when we mishandled Knight’s successor all the way through until now. We’ve been plagued by leadership issues that have made having a successful program less and less likely, and we’ve consistently failed to recognize the consequences of putting people in charge who were horrible fits.

Finally, they have a guy in Dolson who is the right AD, but he had a ton of cleaning up to do (and he’s still doing it). Several of his predecessors were really poor at hiring and “stewarding” almost anything they touched, and many of the people they brought in were simply not qualified. I have no doubt SD will do the right thing here, but he’s not firing Woodson in early December based on a lousy trip to the Bahamas.

She's almost certainly making it all up for attention.  May be a guy who knows.

I agree I doubt we fire Woody midseason.  I don't see much value in doing that -- no logical person to take over the HC role.

Not close to accurate. I’m just trying to let people here know how things are viewed from the IU perspective. You can criticize to your heart’s content, but there’s a way this stuff will get done. The louder the criticism, the less informed people seem to be.

Not sure what you think you're achieving Cathy by coming to the Fire MW thread and telling posters it's not going to happen... We've all known that for quite a while. This is just where people scream into the void until a change is made.

I don't see how the "push back" is needed or helpful or clarifying anything.

Not buying it.  Your posts are all over the place.

That HH podcast with Brian Evans was indeed a good listen. They are completely done with Woodson. In the words of the great Tom Crean, “you wrecked our program!”

* Also just a heads up, anyone able to listen to the podcast, it starts with Brian Evans and talking about the program at the 30:45 mark. They go on and on for a while after that about different things that have happened behind the scenes and what is all going on that just goes to show Woody being the head of the basketball program is a freakin’ joke.
His only support is from guys who played with him 45 years ago.

Do you honestly believe Woodson wants his legacy to be that he helped run our storied basketball program into the ground and that, as long as he’s well paid, he’s fine? Do you really not understand that he loves IU and all it did for him? Do you really not understand the same about Buckner, who’s been associated with the University for over 50 years? I get that people are disappointed that the program hasn’t elevated to a national level, but some of the stuff mentioned here is really outlandish and nonsensical. Woodson will either get things going or he’ll get pushed out. Why is that so difficult for people to comprehend?

Are you kidding me???? No farquing way.

Apparently Woodson and Armond Hill walked into the room and said "Alright, who has the scout for the Michigan State game?" and the others in the room said "... we're playing Michigan." Ya made a joke and called Woody a rookie, to which Woody called Ya a beeyotch.

Then Ya swung. Like a sitcom

That’s fine. I hadn’t posted in some time and wanted to give people some insight into where things stand. I realize not everyone likes to hear that. As I said earlier, the louder the noise the less informed people generally are about any subject, including this one. Thanks for setting me straight.

It's interesting how the Woodson/Buckner defenders are always the smartest people in the room, lol.

That's the last from me on this tonight mods, fear not!

At this point, what is it that you want done? I understand your disappointment with the program, though I’m not at all sure you’ve floated any solutions. How long have you been an IU fan?
