Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Recommended Posts

He definitely has a mental issue, whether it is pathological narcissism or dementia induced memory loss or something else. He acts as if there isn't nationally broadcast video footage of him waving Rice to bring it up the court and then him staring, mouth agape, at another late game coaching failure.
His mental issue is called i don't know what I am doing itis. He is frustrated from fans and knows he has to cover up his coaching blunders. If he lies that gets put out on social media so the people who didn't watch will be OK with it

They are way more likely to not make the B1G tourney than they are to win it.They are just 1 win above the cut bubble with few projected wins left.

Not true on the cut bubble.  Fifteen teams make the BTT.  Washington has one win and then there are four teams with three wins.

That said, Penn State and Minnesota play each other twice, plus Minnesota still play Washington, Northwestern, and Nebraska, and Rutgers.

Feel for Leal, Galloway, and Goode. Those 3 understand what the rivalry means and played their ***** off. Very very winnable game at the end until it was time for coaching to win the game. Absolute war crime that the ball was in Rice’s hands instead of Galloway’s. There are no moral victories. Not even a timeout to advance the ball with 3 seconds left. Unbelievably bad.

I do not think what happened last night will play a big roll in woody not getting fires in season. Good game with another loss. Has the standard fallen this far? I doubt we bring that energy to Wisconsin. I doubt the fans at assembly are calmed by yet another questionable coaching job against our biggest rival! A loss is a loss. Let's just see what happens from this point. If I am dolson I am not sure I am thrilled to see our guys go out and compete hard against a top team. It shouldn't take all season and 3 quarters of a season to play like they should have on November 1st or whatever date they started

What's the point of an in season firing at this point. This team is well outside the tourney bubble, there is no even moderately competent replacement on the bench, and there would be only a handful of games left after Wisc.

I expect IU shot their shot last night, that was the best effort you will see the remainder of the season, maybe they show up for IU/OU part 2, the rest of the games that they are expected to lose in they will give meager efforts, folding early and often.

I'm just waiting until KathywithaC and the board meet so she can tell me how I should feel about the end of the game last night.

I can save you the trouble... this is all visceral, and it's about "process". You still don't understand...  /s

IU is favored in 2 of their last 9 games so if that goes chalk that puts them at 7-13. Not going to go through all  the other teams below IU but I would say that record would be far closer to the 15/16 cut point than would be comfortable.

IMO, there is a point at the minimum in announcing Woodson's retirement.  Fan support for the team will continue to go down the drain until they know we are moving on.

That has always been the best scenario, but I doubt CMW's ego would ever agree to that as it would be a transparent firing and  that ego is much more important than any player or fanbase to the trigger man in that case.

My one observation and only thing I will say tonight is Woodson seems to be frequently late in his recognition and decision-making. Last game he calls a timeout; this game he does not. Feel for the game is a skill, and his is severely lacking. Effort hides a bunch of coaching, and for the most part it did tonight, but when it mattered most he was late to act upon the game or did not at all.

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I provide this evidence: “Couldn’t get his attention, and about the time he got where he was going – I thought he got fouled on the play, but they didn’t make the call."

You're up one and Purdue calls timeout.  You set your defense in the huddle. Wouldn't you also be telling the team what we are going to do if they score?  The decision may be different based on the amount of time left, but it seems to me a good coach should be one or two plays ahead in their thinking.  The fact a timeout or no timeout wasn't discussed in the previous timeout is damning evidence against Woodson.

The tweet was going after Ballo and his $1.2 million NIL.  It showed him visibly angry and yelling at Rice in the huddle after Rice's last shot.

IMO, stupid tweet and It was going after a guy who showed how much he cared.

That again highlighted the dysfunction in coaching and control. For the guys still putting in effort, it's sad. That Rice, Carlyle,Reneau and Tucker have become near unplayable liabilities is mind blowingly bad coaching

I think we finish 8-12. Could see a 9-11 or a 7-13. Either way it’s not good enough. Does 10-10 in this years B1G sneak us in? Maybe.

To go 10-10 we need to finish 5-4. We won’t beat Wisconsin up there so we need to win 5 of last 8 and that includes @MSU. Times running out

Mike Woodson is over .500 this year.  That gets you an extension in the NBA.  Mike Woodson has done his job.

At least Woodson continues to leave no doubt about being a terrible coach. That whole last 2-3 sequences were all about who has the better head coach. I feel for the guys because most of them probably deserved to pull the game out. But alas…

You could have put the ball in about 3-4 different player’s hands and I wouldn’t have said a word. But Rice? Come on. I can’t be the only one thinking Woody didn’t use 1 of the timeouts left because he saw how using a timeout at the end of the Maryland game went.
