I agree, neither the Rutgers game or this game moved my needle. Rutgers was missing Harper and PSU probably hasn't shot that poorly from 3 and the FT line all season and probably won't again. We've been fortunate these first couple games

I’ve yet to see consistent play that makes me think this team can beat teams like Illinois, UCLA, MSU, etc. We will surely get a few Q1 wins because of how well the B10 did in the non conference but I don’t think they’re going to come against the top 3rd of the league and that’s the minimum standard we should be expecting imo. But hey I’m sure AH and Steuben think it’s time for an extension lol

What we expect and what quinn and the cooks expect are probably much different. I fully expect 10 or 11 wins to be enough to save him. His twitter cult should be very very happy. If Woodson wants to come back he will be back.

We are really living in a world where people thump their chests due to wins over Rutgers and “road” wins over Penn State where you could hear the Lets Go Hoosiers chant through the TV lol. We are not serious.

That's  what you think? Glad you said it  because we were all unsure of where you stand since you post the same thing only 20 times a day.

The expectation even from the cult was to compete for a B1G title and a 2nd weekend in the NCAAT. What, other than just being a negative person, makes you think that 10-10 gets him another year?

Yep and why I've come to realize he will be back. It's what the program has become. Knight losing in the first round in his last years pissed people off. Now its celebrated. It is what it is I guess. But football starts in 9 months and I think they have real expectations

Yea.  Our fanbase expectations aren’t that high.

We jumped three spots in KenPom to #54.

NET was #64 before this game.  I’d guess we’ll get into the 50’s after it updates.

Decent win today, it’s hard not to win some with a $6M roster, but we are still a ways off.

Ok - snowing outside, got nothing better to do, so here it is:

Currently, we are 3-1 in the Big 10, 12-3 overall. Here is our remaining Big 10 schedule, with Matchup Predictor per ESPN (IU favorite in BOLD) for each of the games:

Jan 8th – USC. IU listed as a 65.4 % favorite.

Jan 11th - @ Iowa. Iowa listed as 70.3 % favorite.

Jan 14th - Illinois. Illini listed as a 70.9 % favorite.

Jan 17th - @ Ohio St. Buckeyes listed as a 78.2 % favorite.

Jan 22nd - @ Northwestern. Wildcats listed as a 73 % favorite.

Jan 26th - Maryland. Terrapins listed as a 59.7 % favorite.

Jan 31st - @ Purdue. Boilers listed as a 81.4 % favorite.

Feb 4th - @ Wisconsin. Badgers listed as a 75.8 % favorite.

Feb 8th - Michigan. Wolverines listed as a 60.9 % favorite.

Feb 11th - @ Michigan St. Spartans listed as a 81.4% favorite.

Feb 14th - UCLA. Bruins listed as a 58.3 % favorite.

Feb 23rd - Purdue. Boilers listed as a 60 % favorite.

Feb 26th - Penn St. IU listed as a 54 % favorite.

Mar 1st - @ Washington. IU listed as a 52.2 % favorite.

Mar 4th - @ Oregon. Ducks listed as a 76.9 % favorite.

Mar 8th – Ohio St. Buckeyes listed as a 55.2 % favorite.

So, where do the wins come from? @AH1971, your thoughts on where we pick up enough wins to make the dance? Let's hear from everyone, pro and con Woodson. Be realistic.

What makes you think he won’t get another year? He’s a former player with very influential/wealthy friends. If the inside information is to be believed, the AD wasn’t the one who decided to hire him. IU’s expectations are a fraction of what they were 20 years ago. Put all that together and I see zero reason to believe he’ll be fired if we make the tournament this year.

There were more than 15% IU fans and they were vocal in a positive way

I said 80-85% PSU.

there is no way that more than 1 out of every 5 fans there were IU fans. Very large swaths of people were in their white outs.

The IU fans that were there were indeed vocal.

Per ESPN, PSU was 73% to win pre-tip. Who gives a hoot. IU plays with effort and energy like today there’s 10-11 wins left on the schedule. The B10 ain’t that good this year.

Give me 7/8 at home and one on the road, 11-9 and heavy bubble team.

We will beat USC and then, as I posted earlier, we go on an 11 game stretch in which I think we will only win 3-4 games. I still don’t see us in the tourney or Woody being back next year.

A six million dollar roster at a school like Kentucky would expect 15 or 16 conference wins. At iu it's 10 or 11. Everything you say is true. He will most likely be back if he wants to be. He has friends in very high places. The twitter cult may of had high expectations but they are plenty happy just making the tourney

Fair enough for the predictor.

So - the schedule is listed for you. Who do we beat?

Besides the USC game they will have 15 opportunities for a resume building win.  As of today they have 6 home opportunities for a Q1 win.  This isn’t complicated for both sides of the argument.  They play a gauntlet of a schedule moving forward.  They will either win enough where some will pump their chest out and say I told you so or they will lose enough to where people will pump their chest out and say I told you so.   Will they win enough?  Don’t know however since they play in the B1G they will have every opportunity to do so

Buddy, I just said if IU plays with the same effort and energy there’s 10-11 more wins on the schedule. I don’t know which games they’ll show up for and which ones they won’t, it’s college basketball…this your first year watching?

Surely you took Penn State given they had a 73% chance of winning right? IU’s as talented as any team in the B10, if they match their opponents intensity, they’ll win more games than the lose.

The expectations were quite high entering the season, as I stated. Barely making the tournament followed by  the customary blowout would be yet another underperforming season. Would the big spenders really be happy with that return? Doubtful.

Dolson didn't appear to be behind him after last season. This season won't change his mind. He'll have more pull after the season his football hire just had. He might be able to get Whitten on his side.

Buckner will be in the last few months of his term, i.e. a lame duck. I just don't see him having much power to prevent the AD from doing his job.

Fan attendance at home games has been noticeably down. When the team has their yearly losing streak, it'll get worse. Fewer fans in the seats means less money, which is what they care about  in the end..

3-1 so far and probably 4-1 after the next game but the conference schedule to this point has been weak. This team isn't well coached so it'll go off the tracks when the competition gets better. A win at a neutral site against Penn State doesn't change that.

That wasn't really the question. You'd get an award for deflecting though
