Who had the bright idea that giving the king even more money after missing the tourney was a good idea? I guess quinn is likely the only one I can think of and steve Ferguson

lol….We lived at Woodbridge Apartments next to Fountain Place Apartments… My roommate and I had several parties there. I’ve mentioned it in here before, Pat Knight, Pat Graham, Brian Evans, Matt Nover and Greg Graham all came or one of our parties and it was crazy! We had a fireplace and I had wood stacked on our back upstairs patio. Pat Graham was hammered and was out there chuckling pieces of wood off it causing a stir. The cops were eventually called then everyone scrambled!! Lol
Matt Nover came back the next morning trying to find his wallet. He got sick at the party and passed out in my bathroom and threw up everywhere!!! Lol
Good time!!! Lol
Funny

I know we don't like Dakich but he said when he payed they were not to go out to bars during the season. He said they didn't go to bars but just went to house parties where they wouldn't be seen out in the public. He also said they wouldn't do it during the week or before games but usually after a Saturday afternoon game. All these guys need to realize they can't just go out and expect not to be seen.

Cmon, course they did! It’s just no one invited Dackich…so he had house parties. ; )

The burial ground for former Indiana coaches (basketball and football) is full of "nice guys". That doesn't make them good coaches. And of course, the man in charge of the basketball program is neither a good coach nor is he a "nice guy". Time to kick them all to the curb - "nice guy" or not.
Woodson isn't even a nice guy. He is arrogant and entitled

It was pretty cool to have all those guys there. I had a foosball table and we were all drinking, playing foosball and having a good time! That next day after my hangover was gone, I looked at my roommate and said, “That actually just happened!” Lol

While it was my personal hope as well, canning an alumnus coach who finished 19-13 after 2 tournament berths is probably a bad look from the outside.

I always hate to sacrifice seasons as I’m not getting younger I think him getting his 4th year was justified on paper.

Now, the Eye Test? No chance. He’s been a bad coach by so many metrics. I’ll be honest, I was curious how he’d do with a handpicked roster with a lot of “talent”. We are getting that answer.

The staff whiffed on Carlyle and arguably Goode as of right now. They tend to do that.

I just don’t think it would’ve been a bad look at all had he “retired” even if it was obvious the school asked him to do so, so they could move on. He’s 66, had no market before IU came calling, and had lost his only recruit IIRC. If the idea was for him to come back, be a bridge between the old and new IU, leave the program in better shape than he found it… last offseason was the perfect time for a clean break IMO. By taking the 4th year it’s now guaranteed to be at least a little messy/uncomfortable, potentially very. He could have been graded as a success if he left after 3 years, admittedly not going out on a high note, but would be looked at favorably for getting us back to the NCAAs and establishing a competitive edge in our NIL. That would be enough to look past his coaching shortcomings and embrace one of our own for life. Now it’s just headed toward a bitter divorce. Sad really. I guess my point is, I think you can justify either decision but parting ways would’ve made a lot more sense IMO
It could have ended ok but now it will not. Its going to be ugly imo.

Cliff seems like a nice guy but at some point one has to wonder what is going on with the weight lifting program. His background is in football. Is he using the same workout techniques and training that he did when he worked for the Bengals? As we know, basketball is much different than football. Since he’s taken over, we’ve not had 1 single good shooting team and this is his 8th year at the helm. I mean, some of these shots are just pure bricks…some of our shooters we recruited in high school were regarded as sharp shooters, see Damezi Anderson and Gabe Cupps, but they’re not good shooters in college. I think of Luke Goode this year…he was almost a career 40% 3 point shooter at Illinois. He transfers over here and all of a sudden he can’t hit the broad side of a barn as seen yesterday. Now I’m not accusing Marshall of being the sole reason of 8 years of poor bad shooting, but one has to wonder if there is some sort of correlation to his weight lifting program and our shooting…and it’s a fair thought to think. 8 years…of god awful shooting — with two different staffs — all with Cliff leading our workouts is beginning to look suspect. I remember 4 years ago this exact thing was mentioned about Marshall and I thought it was ridiculous. Well, 4 years later and a different coaching staff, it’s seemingly becoming plausible.
I'll die on this hillthat Cliff is part of the problem

Retired.  Fired.  Walks out naked and drags the last national championship trophy around the parking lot. I do not care how it happens, just as long as it happens and he is not in that position next season.

Just the thought of seeing him naked makes me a TadQueasy.

It's a bit beyond plausible. This has been a hotly debated topic on here with some getting angry at the mere notion of it being connected.
Is cliff the same trainer who was getting all jacked up with the team during games on the sideline or was that the previous trainer? Only asking cause I haven't noticed that so much under woodson

It was the previous trainer Anderson that was IU’s hype man.

Todd lived with Pat Knight and Jake Query one season At Jackson Heights. We lived next door and partied a lot with them before, during and after the season. Also Robbie Eggers about whipped my behind after a game one night when we were both drunk. Players have always gone out, just usually not the night before the game.

I had two fraternity brothers that were IU managers in the early 90s. I can attest that Knight, Anderson, and Pat Graham used to party at my fraternity’s house all the time when no games around the corner. Other players would show up but those 3 like hanging out.

Everybody better start shopping in bulk at Sam's Club and Costco for upset stomach medicines because you'll need them when he announces his exit full of self-congratulatory phrases.  I brought IU back to the table.  I got IU over the hump.  (mark my words he'll use that gd phrase).  His will be bad enough, but Dolson/Whitten will have to issue obligatory similar thank you for all you've done statements.  Stock up early.  Supplies will be limited in March.

There's not enough antacids on the planet for that... I stand by my assertion that he is lazy, arrogant, incompetent, entitled and just flat annoying. He's done nothing to move the Indiana basketball program forward. All he's done is enrich himself at the university's expense and burn every bit of good will channeled in his direction for the past four years. He's a stain on the name of Indiana University, and I will remember him as such.

Haha.  My eyes will roll out of the back of my head and this will be some of the most infuriating gaslighting imaginable.

Mike is toxic.  I cannot wait for him to be gone forever.
