Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Recommended Posts

Someone posted we were pre-season #15 so a projected 4 seed. As I and many said then, if this was Bill Self, kelvin Sampson, Izzo, Calipari, K etc with this roster, we would have been top 5. The voters and odds makers just didn’t have faith in Woodson and rightfully so

Looks like even that was an overestimate of his capabilities.

Any coach who is in line should have an idea of what wisdom has done here. Getting blown out on 2/3 of his P4 loses. Making the tournament, yes, but only securely one time followed by a quick exit via blow out each time. Never seriously competing for a B1G title, regular season or tournament. Archaic style that neither fans nor recruits like. Fans losing interest. And on and on.

It doesn't take much research to find these things out of there not already known. If a coach can't be bothered to find those things out, he shouldn't be seriously considered.

IU expects more than squeaking into the tournament. If he doesn't think he can live to to the expectations of IU, he doesn't belong.

Also, putting them in the tournament this year is getting way ahead of ourselves.

We all know this but I fans of other college teams don’t know any of is going on.  When I tell them, they’re very very surprised.  I just don’t think it is that obvious to others.  I sure hope you are right!

Of course, there is zero chance we end up getting a 4 seed this year.

McDonald’s all-Americans, freshman of the year, all confernece players and not projected to make the tournament is bonkers.

I say possible crapfest because he fluffed the schedule and put a lot on winning in the Bahamas, and based off that result, crapfest
He put a crap schedule together. He left himself only the Bahamas for quality wins and it turned out worse case. Now he made his bed and will really need some big win to have any shot at the tourney. I think they go like 9-11.

That will definitely be a crapfest!  I say anywhere from 8-12 to 12-8 but I think it be around 10-10, 11-9 at best!

If he goes 12-8 get ready for I did my job. But something would drastically have to change for that to happen. There is no TJD on this team to take over

He'd probably say he did his job at 9-11, just couldn't get over that troublesome hump.

We're not talking about fans, we're talking about a coach who might want the IU job. If they don't already know the situation, they should find it out without IU having to explain it to them.

Top tier coaches have great big egos and think they are the person that can fix the problem.  I personally have 0 worries about any top coaches scared off.   IU is a still a national brand despite that mismanagement for the last 20 years.   Also IU plays in 1 of the 2 power conferences that coaches will want to get to.   IU will have great options for its next coach. Might not be the name brand most IU fans will want but I guarantee there will be plenty of great college basketball coaches that are lifers that will line up for the position.

We have top nil money to offer also. Imagine what they would give a good coachif they gave a lousy one 6.2 million.

A lot of them do.  Most I talk to want Woody to stay because they don’t want a college coach they knows what they are doing running IU.   Get the right guy in position and IU becomes relevant in college basketball again.    Listen to most national college basketball podcasts and they know what Woody was and what he is currently.  Most see it was a failed experiment with the likely outcome of him not being coach next year

Being out of Espns  bracketology is probably a good thing.  Lunardi doesn’t have his fast ball anymore and there are a bunch of better options to follow that would be more accurate.   I want him gone as bad as anybody however going 11-9 in the B1G would more than likely have them on the right side of the bubble.   B1G is by far the second best league this year and their success against every other conference besides the SEC will get more B1G teams in.   Iu has 18 B1G games left.  13 Q1, 3 Q2, and 2 Q3 games out of those 18.    If they win the 2 Q3 games then in the example of going 11-9 would mean 8 other B1G wins to get to 11 wins would be Mostly Q1 wins.    Again Woodson needs to go but the math will works itself out and if IU goes 11-9 in conference some of you would need to prepare for them being on the right side of the bubble.   Their SOS will only go up from here on out (108 overall now) and there non con sos will be in the mid 100s which would be fine for a bubble team or a lower seeded team.   Again not saying that’s what I want or agree with just giving you the view from a bracketologist point of view instead of a fan

100% agree with this.  Something to consider, though, is if betting lines came out on all of Indiana's remaining B1G games right now, they would only be favored in four of them. Their schedule is brutal, especially the January 11-February 14 stretch. So, they will have to very significantly improve their level of play to come anywhere near 11 B1G wins.

I think he’ll be gone, but until I see him escorted out, he’s still there until then.
