Fire Coach Woodson Thread

I get that people want to win and that it’s not happening. They’re the same people that loved Crean and that thought Archie Miller was the right choice, as well. Hard to put much stock in what they say.

Miller was an "up and comer" at Dayton and had a track record of winning. Sadly, it didn't translate to IU and P5... but at least he had a chance... Woodson had NO college experience, was a sub-.500 NBA coach with ZERO chance of succeeding. He was hired here because he played here 40 years ago... by one of his best friends, WQB. No other school or NBA franchise would give him the time of day, but Buckner gave him the keys to the kingdom along with $4M/year.

Or they just wanted someone with college basketball coaching experience leading a college basketball program.   Hard for me to much stock in a coach that had 0 college coaching experience taking over a college basketball program.

What are you talking about, it is all 100% fact.  You yourself earlier said Woodson doesn't put in the hours that Cig does.  What college lifers has he brought in to help?  Zero, zilch, nada, nothing.  He brought his Pro buddy Armond hill instead.  And did he not say we are not "true fans" at last year's senior night?  That's 100% true.  Come on man.

To be fair, Hill had some college coaching experience. He coached Columbia and was absolutely abysmal.

The mask is off.  Now we see your agenda.

I'm just looking at Mike and Quinn's actions.  It's been 3.5 years.  Unfortunately, it's clear they're in it for themselves.

Of course Mike will get pushed out, the question is when.  It should have been last year.  But, IUBB exists to serve Mike, so who knows how much longer this goes on.

I get you like Mike and Quinn, but it hasn't worked out and IUBB should come first.

None of this is rational or clear-headed. I get it, you’re a fan and emotional, but that’s not a great way to evaluate anything or make decisions.

Crean was no better than Woodson as a coach and he squandered far more talented teams than MW has been able to BUY.

Fixed that one for ya.

Had Crean had that luxury, who knows... but pretty sure it would be better than what we have now.

Wrong.  Crean definitely wasn't great, but he came here when IU was at rock bottom, and he managed to win two conference titles and he did it without the big NIL advantage Woody has.

It's interesting you claimed to be an insider, but you're just a Woody shill.

Yeah Crean was terrible at building relationships. But could use talent when get got it.  Straight up would trade Woodson for Crean in a heart beat if those were the only choices

We locked in on Miller, to the exclusion of anyone else and to the whispers that he wasn’t ready for a big time job. Quite a few people knew he was a long shot. Woodson was as ready as Miller, if not more so.

Woof. That's some tortured logic. It's not a binary choice. It is clear that there are many options to replace Woody and do it with someone who would work hard and be extremely effective in: recruiting beyond just the paid portal guys; installing modern offense; insuring that we defend the perimeter; relating to young players (and not as their new grandpa); and holding players accountable for substandard effort and intensity.

That being said, I generally agree that a mid-season switch to Kenya or Calbert would not have any real impact, other than insuring that the deed was going to be done as soon as possible. The other plus would be preventing the inevitable booing at Assembly that might be following over the next four months.

However, Woody's buyout gets cut in half in March and it makes the most sense to wait until then because this team will be okay on talent alone.

But make no mistake: come March we will have a coaching search and by the end of April we will have a new coach.

Thanks to the Dolson/Buckner extension, the buyout won't drop until March 31, 2026.

Fire him today and remove any chance of a successful season?

Fire him the second the final buzzer sounds in our last game. There’s no point in firing him now. The season was a lost cause when Dolson decided to bring him back for year 4.

Technically an intern is an insider

No, he doesn’t work as hard as Cig, but that’s only one issue. You know who did? Tom Crean. You want him back?

In the NIL era? Over Woodson? Absolutely

You obviously didn’t follow the program at that time.

HH guys were pretty convinced Dolson didn’t have the weight to fire him.  But after that football hire dude has a lot more pull
