Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Bring in Dusty. Keep Walsh. Let him bring one Assistant + his strength and conditioning. Bring in a former HC as the last guy (there will be no shortage of them on the market). If the HC is more energetic on the trail, which Dusty absolutely is, then we probably don't need multiple assistants whose chief role is recruiter. Fife, Yaklich, Martelli, or one of the tons of coaches that will be fired this offseason. Profit.

In this (unlikely) scenario my recommendation for the “last guy” might be Matt Graves, the Assoc. HC for Schertz at ISU. Formerly coached at Xavier and Evansville and was Assoc HC at Butler for Brad Stevens iirc. Former Head Coach at South Alabama and probably knows nearly every high school head coach in the state of Indiana.

Between the FAU system and the ISU system, I think May and Graves could put together a modern, competitive offense. And May’s a big enough name in Florida that they might even be able to keep recruiting Monteverde.

Also, according to Coyle (have yet to confirm it) this year's team has lost ONE LESS 20-point game than Crean's initial (6-25) team... that is mind boggling, if true... rebuilding, my @$$
I just gotta get these guys over the hump.

I would say this is a good choice.

Ladies and Gents…… I think I’m done and writing Pam a letter. She could probably use a little historical perspective and some details regarding the embarrassing results, that the people making the basketball decisions have gotten us.

The entire department needs overhauled. Buckner needs investigated for forcing a hire of his close friend. I don’t give a **** how many ways you try to rationalize that….its corruption and a massive conflict of interest. Remove him.

If Dolson has no real authority to make a hire, then his position is fake and he should step down publicly to expose the university.

Fans need to walk away. In droves. It will hurt but it’s the only way. The program has no incentive to fix the systemic issues whatsoever. Only until there are empty seats and empty coffers, will they be motivated to make sweeping changes.

Woody and Buckner’s legacy are destroyed in my eyes. I wasn’t around to watch them play, so frankly I don’t give a ****. I’m getting a little sick and tired of the old guard feeling entitled to stay in power.

Woody’s “I’m not going anywhere anytime soon” comment is so pisses me off to no end. I swear on everything dear to me that I’m finished with this program. I will not spend another penny of my money. No more tickets, no more travel, no more NIL collectives…. Not.another.red.cent.

I won’t even consider changing my mind until I see results on the floor.  A new hire isn’t going to do it for me. I do not have to commit to misery all because of some stupid unwritten rules for fans.

I’m finished and I hope more are. Because NOTHING is ever going to change until that happens. They will just gaslight you into having hope each hiring cycle.

BURN IT DOWN. BURN IT TO THE GROUND.

It's becoming clear to me archie was fired after four years because quinn saw it as an opening to get hs buddy in. Normally iu would never fire a guy after four years. Woodsons arrogant comments yesterday prove to me this whole thing was orchestrated by quinn while archie was still the coach. Quinns 1976 legacy to me is trashed as far as I am concerned

I could get on board with May and Yaklich. Supposedly turned around Michigans defense. I know this is unfair to Walsh but i honestly don’t want anyone back from this staff. Woody kept Archie’s and we see how that turned out. Give me new everything.

Walsh is doing a heckuva job in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio and IMO we stand a better chance of landing recruits from those markets than we do up and down the east coast.

Writing letters to the university president is fine but everyone needs to remember that in effect, Quinn Buckner is the one that signs her paycheck.  The BOT hired her; the BOT can fire her and as long as QB can maintain control of the BOT, he can pretty much do as he damn well pleases with regards to athletics and basketball in particular.

IIRC Woodson wanted the job when Glass fired Crean and hired Miller. If so, perhaps Woodson and Buckner saw in 2021 an opportunity to “fix” or “correct” what they feel was an oversight by Glass in 2017.

True but Woodson chases stars. That's his whole recruiting strategy.

There have been many posts in the past about the Fife and Matta sagas but I’ve always been more perplexed that Woody kept Archies guys.  Those assistants were on a staff with dismal results, recruiting was on a downhill trajectory but Woody chose to keep them???  Never made sense to me.

He kept 1 assistant Hunter, he hired Ya, right? Walsh wasn't an asst.

Just saying If I were the AD and I would tell him if he wants to stay these changes needs to be made, if not you can hit the road

You have seen this in the NFL a lot where the front office tells the HC for him to keep his job you have to make changes to the staff. The Colts did this to Jim Mora and told him he had to die the DC Vic Fangio but refused. Later Mora was fired

If my employer told me I had to die, I'd refuse too...

I'd love for coach Woodson to get a technical if a bad call goes against at home.  Please show some passion and show these players that you want to win and that you'll fight for them.  (Of course, it needs to be tactical and not in the closing minutes of a close game.)

Maybe throw his walker across the floor

But for the fact that "the coach who no longer coaches" could have screwed the whole plan, ok.  Maybe he was in on it too.  :)

Gotta pick the top 5 from each state (that's 15 players for the Purdue fans) and land 2-3 of those guys.

That's correct. Hunter has been labeled as a great recruiter but he hasn't really landed many in the time he's been at IU so I'm not buying that. I think it was a mistake to keep him.

100% they did this was personal to them. We are held hostage by those two.

Didn't he get us JHS and XJ? which XJ didn't work out, but he was very highly coveted in the portal.
