These were the BHM unis from a few years back that I thought were pretty sharp. We had some last year that had flourescent colors down either side of the jersey and shorts -- didn't care for those too much, though.

I was thinking of the ones last year, I forgot about these.

I didn't mind the ones last year, they would make a nice regular without the fluorescent colors added. The jersey at least, I didn't much care for the shorts.

That jersey without the flourescent colors would be a nice regular IMO, maybe with a pinstripe instead of that thicker stripe.

I prefer the bigger and bolder letter font of the throwbacks Joson Sanon was wearing in his visit photos. Those are the best variation of our traditional look. The everyday uni’s look very cheap with the small letters. This of course is my opinion. I think we can make very small and tasteful changes that can keep both the old and the young happy.

Love those subtle throwbacks. We looked and played great in those last season.

We've brought up names/no names on uniforms, cream vs. white, script vs. block lettering, and on and on. 

But we're neglecting to mention what would be a very cool addition.

WHO IS IN CHARGE OF UNIFORMS AT IU????? Its not an adidas issue. Its an Indiana Issue.

For 4 years under Archie, our tops didn't match our bottoms. the FIT (or the CUT) our straps the part around the shoulders made it look boxy and like we're wearing sleeveless shirts. The bottoms were too long and players were rolling up the shorts 2-3X.

If you want to build a championship team, you'd take one look and say "WOW half of our games are spent retucking in our jerseys.......THAT PROBABLY IS A DISTRACTION OR THAT ITS INHIBITING OUR ABILITY TO PERFORM AT PEAK.... we should fix this.... But NO. we look like a middle schooler in 2004 who's turning emo with deep V. 

Why can't we even try a Cream jersey with spaghetti straps, Crimson and cream piping, Script Indiana, and an old IU trident on the shorts...

WHY CAN'T WE EVEN TRY... 

WHY can't we do a collaboration with Aime Leon Dore, or KidSuper, or Yeezy while it was still available.

WHY DO WE NOT WANT TO SELL THESE JERSEYS TO MAKE MONEY FOR THE UNIVERSITY???????

ALSO WHY DO WE HAVE 5 Stars on our butt?

If we didn't wear candy-stripe pants, wore different uniforms, had a funky, red court and wore Nikes -- we'd probalby have hung three extra banners by now. I'm sure of it! 

It has nothing to do with suspect hires or poor recruiting. 

 

I get the sarcasm, but we live in a vibrational world where frequencies are everything..... I imagine if you're 17 and come to IU on a visit, the vibes are bizarre. Uniforms add to the bad vibes, as does the practice facility, as does the morale of the Old IU guard's unwillingness to change. 
 

People trust their gut, and If I was 17 and a top prospect my guy would probably tell me to stay away if I had other options. The Vibes of IUBB need refreshed and refreshed badly. NIKE could be the catalyst, but most likely its some 50yr old guy designing the jerseys who say "eh, good enough", you can't have that and also expect to win a championship.

I've always had the idea that we do a students only game at the hyper, we build stands around a court in the center and play one game, only students... That place would be rocking, and provide a breathe of fresh air to a stale program. Texas had a student's only game a  few years ago with Beard in the Volleyball arena. 

And my second Idea, was to keep assembly, but remove the balcony's and expand the seating behind the baskets.

Because of that, Adidas pays up. $50+ million in total for last contract. Just this past week I spoke with someone who is aware of some of those past contract conversations. He said “Nike had almost zero interest. Like they didn’t even care to talk really. They said football was so poor they were not interested.” He said the IU parties involved were kind of shocked. Logical to me and didn’t care to debate him. 

Will that change for this contract doubt it. Would IU give up probably $50+ million just to have Nike when they need new facilities, you mentioned Assembly Hall, buyouts etc.

So even if all the “old guys” got on board … doesn’t matter. Best you can hope for is Adidas is pushed to do better for IU in apparel as part of this contract work. 

We suck so Nike doesn't want us, and we can't get better recuits because we don't have Nike.... Does Adidas know they are outbidding themselves every contract? Seems like we fleeced them. (or the fact that the last deal was negotiated with an IU grad that is a VP at Adidas in Portland)

yeah, not sure but does make some sense honestly. For Adidas - you also can’t afford to lose many more schools and if IU is your number 2, gives IU a lot of pull with them as well.

there are ex IU guys all over too - CAA, Adidas, been Nike execs too during these Adidas years. They all play a factor but not sure much here. Football does matter. 

Ya, I saw some tweets about Nike and IU and how Nike was so far off that IU wouldn't be able to accept it in this round of negotiations. I imagine IU announces they stay with adidas and announce additional fan options so fans feel like we;ve won something. In reality its giving us crumbs.

Real Madrid, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Juventus. Adidas can afford to lose their 2nd biggest US based college bball school and not bat an eye, replace us or not. At this point in IU hoops history, we are probably luckier to be Adidas’ #2 than they are to have us as their #2. Not saying our brand isn’t valuable in college hoops terms. But in the grand scheme of things (Adidas paid just one of those clubs $1.2 billion for their contract) losing your 2nd biggest college hoops contract for a company like that is like IU hoops losing its finest ball boy.

Based on the fact that Nike is a better seller domestically than Adidas. Better gear, better apparel, better shoes etc. We've peaked with Adidas. Indiana joined with Nike would end up making more profit down the road than they ever could with Adidas. We are the "#2 basketball school" yet we are complete after thoughts to the company.

So what does IU make "per shirt."  It's relative peanuts.  They are currently paying us more than Nike would.  What is the value of those lost earnings?  You need to do a lot more math to make those claims.

The potential earnings from Nike outweigh the initial loss. Pretty simple. Nike is preferred over Adidas by most people. The problem is, Indiana is ran by shortsighted morons. It couldn't be an easier to sell Indiana but for some reason they make it really difficult. Nike would likely be more than willing to push out apparel and gear for the largest college basketball fan base in the country.
