JerryYeagley23 Posted January 21, 2024 Posted January 21, 2024 Good road win against a rival playing their Super Bowl. Will say, if CTM doesn’t strike more gold in the portal, this series could reverse fortunes very quickly and soon. Their freshman contributions were in stark contrast to those we get from our underclassman. A concern for sure. If we want to keep the momentum of being a consistently threatening program, we need to capitalize on our success and land some recruits. mamasa, TTT, Stuhoo and 1 other 4 Quote

I thought Purdue was very well coached today, and they played exceptionally hard. You are definitely right in the fact that this series could be flipped easily. But moren does pull magic out of nowhere, so I’m just along for the ride lol. I’ve been following women’s basketball for decades now, and still cannot figure out the recruiting and commitments on how they differ from the men’s side Quote

But now ... she's awful. Bad cliches. Corny phrases. Getting players' names wrong. I expect more for my $5.99 a month! ….yeah l, agreed. One instance, she said “3 by Garzon” and it was actually Holmes. mamasa 1 Quote

She had a 1 on 4 break and instead of pulling back, she just blew past all our defenders, made the bucket and got fouled. Fortunately, she missed the FT. mamasa and Banksyrules 2 Quote

TheWatShot Posted January 22, 2024 Posted January 22, 2024 Are we overstating the importance of bench players? Purdue had one bench player who scored today. Iowa and OSU both got 12 bench points in a game that ended 100-92 in OT. Doesn't seem like there are very many teams that go deep into their benches. Quote

UCONN, SC, UCLA, Stanford, LSU and a few others have Eliteness on the bench that are very capable to impact games. Example UCONN injury/s there is a somewhat elite player/s that can go. IU has had it to a degree (not so this year) and operates on a thin line….IU, T. Moren and staff have worked and created to put together a very high level program with player development and for the most part elite high school players don’t flock to IU. Quote
TTT Posted January 22, 2024 Posted January 22, 2024 Bargesser was a scorer in high school but I think she must have out raced everyone up and down the court. If she could just score with just a little bit of efficiency. She is not really even close. Quote

Bench play gets kind of overrated in all sports and leagues. Really, it's all about the starters. But for basketball, you try to have a really good starting 5 or finishing 5 and then 1 and maybe 2 guys off the bench. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote

Been a complaint of mine for a long time. Woody actually does better with this than others as the season progresses and waits too long. That's what that looks like. Hopefully the player development keeps up and the recruiting picks up. Woody could really take some notes from her on how to actually be a good coach. We need the bench to develop and that starts through positive play. It may not always be scoring but solid execution on offense and defense are important. for the most part, the bench as done a good job filling in for one of the starters. We tend to struggle more with offensive flow when two or more are on the court together. That said, CTM has used the bench more this year early on then the past few. Quote

T.Moren plays bench according to ability. If she had an impact player from the bench they would play more without so much drop off of play. It becomes a bigger issue when there is an injury to a key player. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote
