Indiana vs Kennesaw State 6 PM on BTN Plus

Recommended Posts

I always love listening to the comments from opposing coaches. He definitely knows the game and knows how get the very best out of his players. He seems very selfless and has genuine love for his team. I can see why those Kennesaw St. kids play so hard for him. If he keeps this up, he definitely won’t be coaching there for very long.
Mark my word and I’m gonna say it now, this team will win the Atlantic Sun, make the tournament and upset a higher seed in the first round.

Agree to disagree is all I can say. Cupps continues to do what he can but is severely limited and continues to rate as our least effective player. He is out of position, doesn’t switch when supposed to, as much as anyone and his shot is every bit as broken as Gunn.

Gunn is the type of guard this team needs but he can’t get it together. Our upside has a limit. Good thing we have X and hope we can keep in healthy rest of year.

For all the drama about our lack of good offense, it is our D that has been the issue more often than not. It is our main “metic” bringing down our analytics as well and has gotten worse. Leal was able to improve the team D when he came in.

I mean you can say Gunn is quicker... But no one was getting blown by on drives like Gunn was last night.

I just want to say these comments:

1) we are 10-3

2) we beat every team on our schedule that we were supposed to

3) no bad loses

4) Every team that we beat on our schedule is supposed to either win their conference or pick to finish in the top 3, except for Army

5) we won most of those game without X

I think we are better than the metrics indicates, and when we get X back, the rotation will be better, everyone will settle in their roles and our defense will get better.

Did I mention we are 10-3; also, 2-0 in the B10

Gunn has never gave confidence to ever get it together. Don’t think he will. Unless he magically turns on a switch, He’s a mid major player that will be a transfer candidate at the end of the year. He’s had plenty of opportunities.

I don’t think Gunn year 2 is better Tamar year 2. I’m not quite sure Gunn year 3 would be better than Tamar year 2. I don’t know if he’ll be around long if he doesn’t make any sort of jump.

We've won every game we were supposed to and don't have "bad" losses... Disappointing (Kansas) and ugly (Auburn/UConn) yes. Metrics don't look great, B10 is down but plenty of opportunities to build a tournament resume. The schedule is favorable.

If our perimeter defense and TO situation do not improve, we will lose a bunch of games. Adding back our most athletic guard will help. Regardless of how you feel about his play style, XJ is a net positive and much needed depth. We need to stay healthy.

Ware, Reneau, Mack, Trey, Cupps, Walker, XJ in particular are the 7 we should roll with the most. As we said at the start of the year, this team would need some time to gel... at the end of December it still does, but has shown a lot of improvement and avoided the fate of other B10 peers in getting bad non-con losses.

I could see us getting anywhere from 17-22 wins at this point. Next 4: @ Nebraska, vs OSU, @ Rutgers, vs. Minnesota ... Would really like to go at least 2-2 (ideally better, sure). @ Rutgers is a winnable game. Minny should be a win at home. OSU/Nebraska will be tough.

Going to be a fun (and at times frustrating) conference season to watch!

Partially agree except the blowout losses to UConn and Auburn were bad losses for me.  In the end the committee will likely just see those as losses and if so then you are right. Michigan on the road is really the only good win so hopefully we add more and potentially some great wins.

Nebraska and tough doesn't sound right.

Agree with stuhoo…Cupps was getting blow by just as much.  I’ve been disappointed in what we’ve gotten from Cupps.  I know he’s just a freshman that has been pushed into action prematurely but I’m not seeing what he adds. I was expecting low scoring but efficient.  Instead it’s been low scoring and inefficient.

I mean he's been better than Gunn at the very least in basically every game he's played.

Other than the Michigan game, which Gunn undeniably had a huge role in helping win.

At this point in the year, Gunn has shown us who he is, so why not believe our eyes. Still, that does not invalidate the logic that he has more upside to help win games (see Michigan). It's just that he also has the downside to help lose games.

For that reason, I'm on board with Leal playing over Gunn situationally. I still think there will be short stretches where Gunn would be preferable. Leal brings a great presence against Kennesaw State but I sadly doubt he can do that for us in the B10.

The Gunn v Leal "debate" ... if anyone really wants to call it that ... really just IMO highlights how brutally we needed a portal guard. Gunn was seemingly trusted to be a net positive this year. He is not. Same for Banks, who looks better, but still not bona fide rotation status. Sadly I feel like that, which was commented on by many from the start, will be the story of this season when we look back on it. However far we do go... that question will loom.

The Woodson era may be defined by the next few months of conference play and spring recruiting cycle.

I still have nightmares of the game in assembly hall and the raining 3s on our heads while there bench were rowing boats and all kinds of different antics. That game was tough as I think we got our @$$ kicked. Infact I would say the majority of our matches have been tough. We stink just as bad

Still to be seen as well if Ware will play and if he does, if he is fully recovered.

That was the only road game they won that entire season. Dakich stuffed Archie Miller in a trash can on his next show after that game. I'm not a fan of Dakich these days, but he was spot on with everything he said. I think that was the game where Miller officially lost the team.
