This would be such an IU move. He's 54-61 at Miami, with most years being around .500 so he hasn't exactly been killing it despite being 9-2 this year. If this is the route Dolson wants to go, it'd be better to just have another year of Allen to save money.

I'm ok with a Chuck Martin hire.  His resume is actually better then folks are giving him credit for and he's got Midwest roots. It's a kind of hire that tells me Dolson is taking it seriously. I'd prefer others, but I would certainly understand it.

Going with the recent MAC flavor certainly sounds like an IUFB thing to do and would prefer they aim higher than that if the money mentioned is true. Being IUFB though I'm not sure how many would have legit interest aside from wanting a good laugh.

What am I missing? His really good DII record? He did get to 4 bowl games but lost 3 of those. Granted, this year will be 3 in a row but this resume doesn't really say he'd be a good hire for IU. A few outlier seasons like the losing seasons in the beginning and the current winning season but mostly around .500 at a MAC school doesn't inspire confidence that he'd be the same or better at IU.

His entire 16 year HC career only had three losing seasons.  He's had only two conference losing seasons, finished in the top half every other season (the majority being top 3). He's got lengthy experience as a HC. He was OC at one of the most prestigious college football programs in the country, one of those seasons being undefeated. And, most importantly, he knows the area, being from the Midwest. I think this would probably be one of the better resumes to ever coach at IUFB. I could be mistaken of course. But overall he's got a good resume and I'd be fine with this hire.  Especially if he turns us around to consistently win six games a year and finish in the top half of the conference.

Regarding his record at Miami, I'm assuming his non-conference schedules were against P5 opponents and give him a pass on those losses because I would assume he'll be able to bring in or develop P5 level talent.  I briefly looked over a few of his past seasons and last year he beat Northwestern. That tells me if things are level with talent aka Jimmys and Joes he can hold his own.

He wouldn't be my first choice or even second or third, but he's actually got a decent resume for IUFB standards.

Jonathan Smith of Oregon State is rumored to be interested in Michigan State, Indiana needs to at least make the call.
