Coach Curt Cignetti to INDIANA... Forever and Ever, Amen!

Recommended Posts

I realize some of their frustration regarding Cig's (shorthanded) comment; given they have played so many games without their starting QB.  However, I'm more surprised so many of their fans are now throwing the entire "interim" coaching staff under the bus.  Penn State played a terrific game and IU had a terrific (and some could reasonably argue . . . "lucky") comeback at the end.  I say lucky because those two tipped passes (on 1st and 2nd down from the 7 yd line) could easily have been picked which would have ended the game.  Nevertheless, Heismendoza and the Hoosiers pulled through to capture victory from the jaws of defeat.  Becker was amazing and Cooper's catch at the end . . . I will remember in a way similar to The Wat Shot . . . minus IU not being the underdog as Coach Crean's team was in 2011 against UK.

I just purchased a Bobble Head of Coach Cignetti from National Bobblehead Hall of Fame. It says the phrase "I win. Google me". The product will ship in March of 2026. They also have Coach Knight Bobble Heads. Pretty cool site: https://store.bobbleheadhall.com/search?q=hoosiers&view=ls&type=product

Yep. But honestly needs more NIL.

So does the basketball team.

I think the basketball dream is kinda dead. At least mine. Be a top 5-10 spender. Build the best roster the coaching staff can assess and be strong every year. Reclaim blueblood status.

It’s just not going to go like that with emphasis on football. DeVries isn’t a Cig. No one really is. Unfair comparison. Dusty was our chance, but Michigan is killing us in NIL on basketball this year. Dusty made a good choice. Not sure the money is there for DD with football where it’s at. The win with less strategy in basketball is tricky. Rarely done consistently.

I was big on the devries hire but I’m back to wondering if they are going to even try.

That kinda of question doesn’t get more NIL money.  I stopped watching the game on Saturday to spend time with my daughter but guys weren’t even putting their hands up to contest shots.

If basketball happens great. But one thing I don’t worry about with the football team is are they going to try.

Basketball team is just severely outmatched.  I think they are trying. The B1G isn’t going to let us grab and claw like we need to do to stay competive on defense.  I’ve been preparing myself for a rough year once I saw what we did with the roster.

Consider yourself convinced, Paul...

He’ll never actually come out and say it. Whatever the story is would love to hear it, but Saban and the SEC crowd are just not down with Cig. Would think they would eat up some blue collar football lifer who worked himself up from the absolute bottom but for whatever reason that’s just not the deal here.

He’s a threat to their employer. And the money. They want the big national stories to be SEC/ESPN and not B1G/Fox.

Pawl is a joke but in an odd way he doesn’t bother me too much.  He’s always played a character and he won’t break character because that’s his bit and how he gets attention.  He’s not a serious CFB analyst.  No one really respects him.  He’s an act and probably doesn’t believe what he says, and that doesn’t bother him.

What I do have an issue with is people influential in the CFB world like Kirk, who are supposed to be impartial, singling us out like he did last year.  Or the way Jimmy Sexton got the GameDay crew to defend Lane’s asshat behavior.  That’s trash.

Reasons:

1) He's not at an $EC school

2) Not only is he not at an $EC school, he's at the school which had the most losses in FBS history so even now they consider it a fluke

I was floored when Pat called Lane out yesterday. Completely stepped out of the fantasy land that the other four were living in and went off for a minute.

Good for Pat.  One independent person there.

The whole thing was insane.

I know everyone knows this, but Lane coaching Ole Miss while working as the head coach of LSU was a 100% absolute non-starter.  It’s one of the most absurdly conflicted unworkable arrangements imaginable.

Obviously Lane said he would do both jobs to save face while knowing it would never happen.  I can’t believe the GameDay crew and some CFB media gave him cover on this one.  So pathetic.  Especially Saban, who was behind the scenes advising him to go to LSU.
