Man, I disagree.  That's a series of terrible decisions that escalated way beyond anything I would have guessed here.  Really bad story and now I question his character until he proves me wrong.  Dislike.

Yeah. I'm glad it isn't more serious, both for his sake and the team's.

But I'd be lying if I said this doesn't make it harder for me to root for him.

So many stupid decisions, including being needlessly confrontational with law enforcement.

Glad no one was physically put in danger though.

People make dumb mistakes. It’s how you learn from them. If you dislike him for this mistake then you must dislike a lot of people.

I never said I disliked him.  Nowhere did I say that.

But this wasn't a dumb mistake.  It was a series of poor decisions that escalated into an arrest.  Big difference

Understood. Thanks for clarifying. No doubt about it, it was poor decisions. I’m confident he will learn from this.

When I've went to Taco Bell, afterwards I would have preferred to been arrested and not gotten my food.

Anyway, stupid, stupid decision by MM.  In terms of the 'everyone makes bad decisions at 18', I don't know of many that had the opportunity to leave multiple times by police, refused multiple times and when told they would be arrested if they didn't, still refused.  Hell, once I saw the baton come out to break my car window, I sure as hell am complying.

There will be internal team punishment and a game or two (which will be exhibitions) of punishment.  But this is part of the reason mama M wanted her son to come to IU.....because she viewed Woody as an extended father figure.  The bigger deal will be how MM handles things like this going forward and my guess is even if the punishment isn't into the regular season, it is not going to be light.

Agree.  I think it's just a matter of definition, but a mistake to be is a misjudgment or error in decision.  Doubling an tripling down on a bad decision when given a chance and consequences for that decision moves it beyond mistake.

Yeah this is really weird behavior, I'm not going to make assumptions to fill in details - but we're obviously missing some information. It just throws me for a loop because he had seemed humble in interviews/like a down to earth guy. For example, when he was a star prospect he let two middle school kids have a very long interview with him for their youtube, lol. Had no reason to do that but you could see their excitement.

I had always heard he was a basketball junkie and lived in the gym. Acting like that at Taco Bell, at that hour, makes me question if he actually is a little bit... but at the same time he is 18. I'm in no position to ridicule considering when I was 18 and got arrested for a fake ID at Kroger, I decided to not let that bring the night down and keep drinking. Where I proceeded to black out, wake up in the hospital, with another ticket in my pocket. LOL... Salzmann Law saved the day and all is well today.

Hopefully he learns from it and this is the last we hear of anything like this from an otherwise reputedly good kid.

Again, no alcohol related charges which would lead me to believe it wasn't involved.

I didn't know you were allowed to be at Taco Bell at 3 a.m. without alcohol in your system.

I'm assuming mary jane had something to do with this but he was at least smart enough to not have any in the car... obviously purely my own speculation. Because again... who can go to Taco Bell sober at 3am lol. Would also probably explain maybe being super anxious/paranoid of the cops, and freezing when asked to get out of car, causing them to smash the window... Any way you slice it not a good night for Mack.

Take the punishment, learn the lesson, get better and move on.

Bloomington not offer better culinary options at 3am than Taco Bell? Doritos Locos Tacos must be incredible. With no alcohol involved, that's not a good look. I understand being stupid under the influence, but being sober and that argumentative with police, no bueno.

There are no charges, but that doesn't sound like the actions of someone who is sober. It really sounds like alcohol, pot, something was involved. If he was completely sober, that's very odd behavior and the arrest could have easily been avoided since it sounds like they gave him plenty of opportunity to leave.

I had my own freshman incident too.  Lol. Mine was less.  Freshman year on a full scholarship and a group of us were walking girls back to their dorms on 3rd from a frat party on Jordan extension.  We stopped for a piss break, right across from the police station, we I came out of the wooded area everyone ran except me.  Cops breathalyzed me and could have had my @$$. Instead I was gentlemanly as much as a hammered 18 yo can be. Cops gave me 3 choices. 1. Arrest me for Indecent exposure 2. Arrest me for underage drinking 3. Or go home and sleep it off and dont let him catch me doing something stupid again.

I chose option 3.

You bumped into a nice cop!

My Kroger incident was truly something to behold. During Lil 5 weekend, when there are 5 police agencies in town. Baby face me, already a 6 pack deep, was obviously the best choice to go in when we needed to make another booze run.

Wasn't funny at the time..... but live and learn right

No excuse.

But something caused MM to lose it.  But we don't know what tripped him up.

Did he have words with the Taco Bell order taker and/or the server at the window?  Probably.

He wasn't happy.  Probably they weren't very...ahem...positive about the disagreement.  The agendas of each party were not compatible.   Got personal.   Got to him and he lost it. I also speculate that the Belle in the Taco window lost it, too.

Welcome to the Twilight Zone, MM.  We're not in Joisey, anymore.
