eddy4iu Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 There doesn’t seem to be as much buzz on IU forums about Hoosier Hysteria this year as in years past. Is that an indication that attendance will be down for the event or are folks just not talking about it? Does having Gucci Mane involved boost attendance? Anyway, who all on this board is planning to come to HH? Where are you traveling from? Are you coming with family and young kids (who might both love IU basketball AND Gucci Mane) or meeting up with friends in Bloomington for Homecoming weekend? How early do you plan to arrive to stand in line to get good seats? At least there will be food trucks outside Assembly Hall starting at 4:30 this year so should make standing in line more tolerable. Do you plan to stay for Gucci Mane after the basketball activities are over? Again, just curiosity questions because the hype of HH seems to me to be lower key this year vs previous years. Quote
Hovadipo Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 Making a final last minute decision Friday afternoon, but I'm planning on being there. Don't think I'll keep the 5 year old around for Gucci Mane (lol). Could see some sort of rush of students coming later in the event for the concert. I'll be getting there pretty soon before things get going, don't really care where we sit. I'm getting the vibe that they won't be scrimmaging, which would make this a no-go for me if it wasn't for giving Mini-Hov his first Assembly Hall experience. If I was a student on campus I'd be wanting to experience the whole thing tho. Stromboli and lillurk 2 Quote

I'm coming from Ellettsville with my wife, son, and one of his friends. We were lucky enough to get some wristbands from a staff member so we could be on the floor so we will not get there early. Yes we are staying for Gucci Mane, my wife and son are big fans, I usually enjoy any type of live music even though this probably isn't my cup of tea. We do have friends coming in from Louisville for homecoming weekend so we plan to meet them to tailgate early Saturday morning. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote

I suppose that is called paraphrasing but I'm 69 years old and had never heard of Gucci Mane until he was announced for HH. Suffice it to say I am not conflicted between him and IU basketball whatsoever. LOL Chris007, rcbowla, hoosierbgh and 2 others 2 3 Quote

I still say his name sounds like an expensive designer horse mane stylist. rcbowla 1 Quote

My first thought was "what's a Gucci Mane?". hoosierdogg 1 Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 They aren't advertising a dunk contest, but I hope they do that if they don't scrimmage. Quote
Loaded Chicken Sandwich Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 Hoosier Hysteria IS NOT the show it should be or really once was... Maybe that was just my kid brain thinking it was amazing.. but I feel like Indiana could put WAY more into putting on a hell of a show for HH. Quote

Seems as if production has gone up, and activity has gone down. It's become more pep rally than basketball event, for better or worse. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote

Oh yeah events like these are the time to get little ones to SSAH. Pro-tip, Mini-Hov will need to poop the second you get to your seats. I’m astounded by the reliability of this. I’m all for turning this event over to the students, recruits, and team. It’s so difficult to keep interest and enthusiasm high for these. But I’m with Stu, the scrimmage is exactly what we want to see. And yeah dunk contests are for the 90s. Quote

With some talking from Woody and whoever else sprinkled in. Quote

Odds on Mini-Hov dropping an emergency bomb in a tailgating porta potty are like -1500. Quote

He got to live through the great days of Edge, Stone Cold, Triple H, HBK etc entering... Time to use the resources we got! Quote
