Class of '66 Old Fart

IUBB vs Illinois - Saturday, 2/18/23 @ Noon on ESPN

Recommended Posts

Alt-Ctrl-Delete.  Takes care of last night.

No two ways about it, team needs to re-group.  Yes, we beat Illinois handily a month ago in Champaign but that's old news.  Illinois (17-8) (8-6) is coming off a Tuesday night loss at Penn State and we need to send  them home with another road loss.  Hopefully Larry Scrotum isn't one of the officials.  And it's a home game so we might actually get some points from Tamar.

Feels like every game is a little more important than the last. I hate that this game is a noon Saturday tip after the gut punch from last night, and against a team that will desperately be seeking payback. A sleepy early tip off/another poor start first half and we're staring a possible 4 game losing streak and another middle of the pack finish in the face. I feel like this team is better equipped than any in recent memory to turn the page quickly and turn last night into fuel. Let's do that, please.

Illinois is not having a fun week either - they got squished in Happy Valley, probably got home at about 3:00 am Wednesday morning, and get on a bus 2 1/2 days later to get to another road game in Bloomington.

Will the officiating be any better on Saturday? I'm not one to mention the officials very often but I thought they were really bad last night. Long-time listener, first-time caller, I'll hang up and listen to your answer. TIA

If we win they will be waaaay better.    ;)

So what you're saying is they are desperate for a high quality win and a sleepy early tip off on the road against a team that embarrassed them on their home floor is the perfect opportunity. I've not yet successfully re-programmed myself to not expect the worst outcome in huge moments for IU hoops. The Archie years (and beyond) did a number on this fragile soul ;-). This may or may not be a cry for help.

Will let you know after seeing how the team is playing. I know for certain it won't be our fault if we end up losing.

I would like to make a motion in agreement that IU is going to come in to Assembly Hall with a huge chip, a pissed off fan base, and a prediction of a 10-15 point win.

Can I get a motion?  Second?

All those in favor say I

Second

I'm taking out all of my anger on the refs tonight at the IU women's game. My wife might choose to sit with someone else instead of beside me.

I live a thousand miles away from campus so I don't have insider info very often, but today I actually do.  I've heard from a VERY reliable source that Illinois sucks.  Spread the word

I can confirm this

A lot of turmoil surrounding the Illinois program this year. Not a great resume, but certainly not the worst. Illinois will come out fighting, though I feel from watching them they're just waiting for a team to hammer in the final nail of the coffin. If you think IU looks careless periodically, tune into an Illini game. Those boys have a lot of quit in them. A good 1H start by the Hoosiers will bury them imo

We do have the coaching edge. Underwood is as good for IU as Juwan Howard - hope they resign him :107:
