I haven’t followed his entire season, are we sure this just isn’t a one off case of a guy going ballistic? Players naturally tend to progress throughout their career, he didn’t want any part of it here. See ya!

Umm, yes he would.  You said yourself in a previous reply to my post the Indiana is no longer the center of basketball.  And you are correct.  Nobody is going to come here and be at the level you expect in the first year or two.  That's just a reality that a lot of you aren't willing to accept.

Nobody is going to call for his head if he doesn’t win the national championship in year 1. Don’t be obtuse. But Bruce Pearl is absolutely the type of coach who can come in right away and immediately change the culture. No more soft players. No more low IQ basketball players. The portal allows you to do this overnight.

So I looked up Pearl's first 4 years at every stop

So to me it shows it takes him a few years to get the program turned around. I guarantee it that if he came to IU and put the first 3 years at Auburn record here at IU you would be calling for his head.

Taking over a downtrodden Auburn program pre-NIL is a lot different than taking over at Indiana. Context.

Troy Williams used to smoke blunts in his dorm and other friends dorm rooms. And I’m pretty sure he and Stanford Robinson had been arrested before due to alcohol….

Hanner Perea regularly got behind the wheel after getting wasted. This was no secret to anyone. Including staff. 

I can go on. 

Many of Kelvin Samson’s former players give him credit for changing their lives for the better. For bringing them out of tough situations and putting them on paths to success. 

This is exactly what I mean. Folks in this fanbase have a moral superiority complex. We love to attack certain people’s characters. 

For the record, although I’m on the record as someone who thinks we should have retained Sampson, I’ve openly said that I thought he should have been reprimanded/suspended and forced to have more accountability for the off court behavior.
 

Forcing him out and NUKING the entire program for years was on the admin. Not Sampson. They ruined the program then ran a complete smear campaign against him. Despicable people imo. Likened to career politicians.

This is “takes him a few years to get the program turned around” to you? Dude went 36-12 in the SEC and went to 2 sweet 16s in his first three years at Tennessee lol.

Self reporting and self sanctioning for what he did are not the actions of a serious program. The NCAA cared so much that what he did isn't even a violation now.

We should've kept our yaps shut and made the NCAA do their own jobs then worked with Sampson to clean up off court issues; although with the off court issues we've had under other coaches we shouldn't say much there. Instead we had our holier than thou mentality and blew it up.
