I don’t think this is true. JHS shot the lights out. Kopp is fine when open. Bates was hitting shots. Galloway couldn’t get open. Which is the problem. We have horrible spacing and the guys throw the ball around the perimeter with their feet not set and 7ft away from the arc. That’s not hard to defend.

We don’t shoot a ton of threes but someone posted the other day that we’re near the top in percentages.

We are 4th in the big ten in 3 points % at .375 100-265. I think I saw somewhere our overall shooting percentage is like 6th in the country.

The perception of IU being a poor 3 point shooting team is from previous years but not this year.  I hear how great Purdue is at shooting the 3 but they are shooting .315 from 3 111-352. They have hit 11 more despite shooting like 90 more

-18 in 18 minutes in a 2 point loss, so we were +20 in the 22 minutes he sat on the bench. Yikes. He looks more lost than ever out there right now.

Race +16, Geronimo -18 and that is the two pints we lose by. I know it is not that easy but we win last night if Race didn't get hurt. He was doing a descent job on Murray. With Race guarding him he scores 7 with others he scored 23. I know some say that is an excuse but to others that is a reason.

Race played 10 minutes last night my friend. So, Murray scored 7 points in 10 minutes against Race then? That’s not the best defense..

But just because you were playing badly before the injuries doesn't mean the injuries can't hurt you the rest of the season. You don't think, X or Race were going to get better as the season went on? I thought Race had looked good the last 2 half games. I guess I just don't buy that.

If I am not mistaken in the 4 losses we didn't have our full roster finish the game or had guys out the whole game.

Arizona no JHS

KU XJ gets hurt in the first half

Rutgers no JHS

Iowa no XJ and Race gets hurt in the first half.

Those are reasons and not excuses.

No, it's not.  That's a little under a quarter of his points in 10 minutes.

I hadn't felt this like others had till today. My wife called me at lunch and I started rattling off what was bothering me about the game, and I realize I'm just exhausted by it all. Here I am still talking about it.

For me it isn't that I am tired of it because of the play. Before if we lost you turn the TV off and move on. Today you have to relive it over and over until the next game. You have social media, 24 hour sports channel and sports radio. Unless you can totally be without any of that you will keep replying the game in your head

I think I am better at 52 handling losses than I were at 20 especially during the games. I use to act like a lunatic during the games and made a fool of myself. I really tried to be better especially after having kids and trying not to say bad things during the game.

He played 40 minutes and scored 30 points. If you extrapolate out the 7 he scored in 10 minutes against Race, that’s 28 points.

Maybe we win with Race, who knows. Blowing big leads is something we’ve done with Race playing too.

It’s interesting how fast we’ve gone from “we’re so stacked, we have so much depth” to “well how can you expect us to win with all these injuries.”

Yeah, injuries are hurting us. They’re hurting us because we don’t have depth and don’t have guys who can fill in for our injured players.

Didn't Dakich say awhile back there were 4 players at other programs who wanted to come here, but Woodson told them he wanted to keep the team together and we didn't have room? I wonder if any of those four, whoever they are, could be targets in the spring.

I think he said there were 2 really good transfers that wanted to come to IU but we had no room or Woodson was willing to make the room

Race went out at 4:59 mark at the half and Murray had 7 points in the first 15 minutes of the game and 23 in the last 25 minutes of the game.

You take 2 starters from any of the top teams in the country they will not be as good either.

Lots of teams deal with injuries. Our 2016 team last a starter and went on to win the conference. Last night was the first time we were down two starters. We were thoroughly dominated by Arizona, Kansas and Rutgers down one starter. It’s a convenient excuse, but it’s just that. Some teams rise to to the challenge when they face adversity. Other teams fail. Which will this team do?

Don't know if it is true, but one tweet responded that two of the refs in last nights game also reffed the Northwestern/Illinois game....where Northwest had 40 free throws to Illinois' 10.

Those refs where great.  F U of I.  :)

Agree with this. I mentioned earlier that one of the reasons I like following the women's program is it just seems to come with a lot less drama. When that team loses a game, we can talk about it for what it is, a loss. It's not a referendum of the program and we don't have people ranting and raving about how the athletic department is failing us.

I have always wonder what is inside us sports fan that makes us nuts when our team loses.  It is a game played by others and we have nothing to do with what happens on the court.  I think sometimes our self worth is based on how our team is perceived by others. I have seen IU win 3 national championships, seen the Colts win a Super Bowl and none of them changed my life anymore than if we lost.

Yep, good teams can overcome injuries and still be good. In '93, IU loses one of the better players in IU history (top 10? 15? 20?) when Henderson blew it his knee. They still won the conference (with only 1 loss), got a #1 seed, and made it to the elite eight.

That was a much better team than this one before the season which is why they could overcome it and this team can't.

Problem is we aren’t going to probably have our whole roster at any time this year.  I don’t think X will be back and who knows when Race will.  We need some players to get ready fast.
