We were both half-right. He was a manager that busted his tail and Knight liked him. He eventually got to suit up and served as a human victory cigar.  Maybe Knight ended up giving him an unused scholly…I don’t remember but it wouldn’t have been unheard of for RMK to do something like that.

Cool!  Here he is today -- orthopedist in Shelbyville.  Mentions that he was a scholarship player at Indiana.
