Class of '66 Old Fart

IUBB vs Nebraska - Wednesday, 12/7/22 @ 8:30 on BTN

Recommended Posts

Tonight's radio show - Mike Woodson says Jalen Hood-Schifino is still day-to-day and Logan Duncomb is still out due to being under the weather, but everyone else was back at practice today.

All of Nebraska's losses have been on the road so hopefully we can extend that streak for them.

Question: in these last few games was Griesel their primary ball handler? In the games I watched he handled the ball a whole lot and was a TO waiting to happen.

From what I watched, he is still their primary ball handler. It seems like he's been more efficient. Perspective of having the game on and doing multiple other things though.
Ok well then he's progressed exceptionally fast then because what I watched was a nightmare. Like it looked similar to having Bates (maybe worse) as our PG. Actually worse for sure but not Geronimo bad. He is tall though.

Huge difference in @$$/to in the past 3 games compared to 3 previous games against Power 6 teams.

Wow, what a difference the last 3 games. Like a switch got flipped on.

Based off of what "I've seen" (not last 3 games) is if you put pressure on him constantly he will have a difficult time. We'll see what happens. Would help to have JHS back but I got a feeling that won't be the case.

This will be a grind. Teams in the Big Ten know the recipe to beat IU and will continue to pack the paint. Last year at home against Nebraska (in December) IU scored 26 points in the first half and didn't take the lead until the very end of it. Trayce only had 14 points and 7 boards.

I expect Nebraska to employ that same strategy. Hopefully the boys are ready for it

Let’s hope we get our game back tomorrow because we really sucked at Rutgers!  I’m still trying to figure out what happened and I keep coming back to a let down after the UNC win. We really did nothing. No shooting, no rebounding, just standing around. Unless they all got a dose of the clap!

I watched the SJU game and their ballhandlers just wilted under pressure.

This one makes me a little nervous because we seem to playing them at the wrong time.  Their best three games have been their last three.  Hope JHS is good to go Wednesday.  Gut tells me he's playing.

If IU still wants to win the B1G, there really can’t be a bad time to play Nebraska.

Need a win tomorrow against a team with high confidence after their huge win vs Creighton.

If Indiana loses tomorrow, things could turn down hill vs Arizona and Kansas coming up. We’ll find out what this team is made up prior to the Big Ten these next couple weeks.

It is, but Creighton and Florida State really aren't teams real capable of putting pressure on the ball.  Creighton backs off on defense -- never foul -- play position defense and hit the boards.  They are 338th in the nation in forcing turnovers (opponents have only turned it over 10.7 times per game).  In exchange, no team is given up fewer free throws than Creighton (8 per game).  Florida State is 208th in the nation in turnovers forced.

A couple of notes:

1.  Nebraska has not fouled much -- right now only allowing opponents 9.6 free throws per game.

2.  Nebraska is a HORRIBLE free throw shooting team.  Have hit just 62.2% on the year, 340th in the natoin.

3.  They try to play their starts (except Walker) 35 minutes per game if they can.  Not much depth.

4.  They don't shoot the three much....in fact, they are very IU like in that respect.  On the year, they make 6.6 out of 20.4 threes per game (32%);   IU has made 6.3 out of 18.1 (35%).

5.  Overall, (knock on wood) IU seems to be a bad matchup for them.  IU doesn't shoot many threes and likes to pound it inside;  Nebraska does as well but isn't as good at it as IU is.  Neither team shoots free throws well;  Nebraska is worse at it. Pretty much similar styles, but IU seems better in each area with the exception of maybe rebounding.

I believe the point spread started as IU by 12 and I expected money to come in the Nebraska to cover side to push it lower.....but it's actually IU by 13 now.
