COVID let IU have 2 good seasons since at that time it seemed to affect us less than other teams. In the long run, it looks like it will hurt IU more than most since it resulted in the ridiculous Allen contract extension.

Not defending the direction of the program, but if the 6-30 counts, the 11-6 counts too.

How much 2020 counts, imho, is up for debate. That season was such an oddity. I’ll give you 2019. But by my post I mean that Allen had success in a couple years where we had some good coordinators, those guys left, and Allen’s program has become a dumpster fire. So, sure, those years ‘count,’ but how much Allen had to do with the success is questionable to me given the results since.

How did Covid effect the 2019 season when we went 8-5, Covid started in March of 2020

Drop football everywhere…the hell with it.  With all the nonsense going on everywhere and start a 21st century nonsense called SOCCER ️ PROBLEM SOLVED.

1.  What are you smoking?

2.  Indiana is an eight time soccer champion, and has gone to the Soccer Cup 22 times.

3. How do you come up with these synapses in your head?

Can you read.  IU Soccer would be number 1 and play in front of sold out stadiums including full IU football stadium.  The equivalent to Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State football…only it would be Soccer with the best players, coaches and sold out Soccer stadiums that are now football fields.

IU would be ranked # 1 (or close to it every year) with the best players and coaches playing in sold out stadiums instead of football stadiums.

Football problems/s gone.

Oh, right. I forgot that came before COVID and the teams we beat that year just legitimately sucked without the COVID excuse.

11 of Allen’s 17 conference wins came in 2019 and 2020. In the other 4 seasons he’s 6-30. Just absolutely pitiful. Without good coordinators to prop him up, he’s a bad, bad coach. You can’t LEO your way out of this one. Too bad we have 2 more years of Allen freaking out on the sidelines like a maniac.

He had good coordinators AND left over talent from Wilson.

Downplaying our good years to argue that Allen is bad (which is totally pissing into the wind; find me someone saying otherwise right now) is the strangest thing. It really doesn’t require the effort to warp the reality of the good years to make him look bad, he’s made himself look bad all by himself!

Can anyone honestly take the 2020 season seriously at this point? Zero fans in the stands. Players opting out of the season. Michigan, PSU, and MSU all being terrible. Players in and out of the lineup with covid. Games getting canceled - Wisconsin played 2 games over a 6 week period. Following it up by going 2-16 in conference over the next two seasons. I put zero stock into that season. It was a once in a lifetime fluke.

Players got a pass concerning 2020 but coaches were hired, fired or given extensions based on 2020. Insanity.

And even those who take the view that it shouldn’t be downplayed, you still have to acknowledge that Tom Allen’s success in 2020 should have virtually zero to do with what the AD does moving forward. Dolson can’t sit there and think “well, 2020 was great. Maybe he can do it again. Let’s keep him.” It was a fluke. We’ve seen how he followed up on that season.
