Liam is going to be the best shooter this program has had since James Blackmon.

Disclaimer:  I've never watched Liam play

The box score shows he went 2-7 shooting last night.  What are his career numbers?

I think 38% on 5 threes a game. He did not have his best game last night. He has a really good shot. I feel like he doesn't rush his shots either.

We have not seen MM play yet.  Everyone raves about his shooting ability!

He’s a higher rated recruit than the dream 3 we have for 24. Ware was higher than all of them. Reneau was in the ballpark.

I’m super excited about next years class but I’m not certain we are a better team next year even if we get our top 3. Very curious how college basketball media will treat us, since they haven’t given us/Woody much respect so far.

The five star freshmen are clearly a big deal, but by all accounts from Woody and the current players, the ‘best’ player on the roster this year and next is likely…

Trey Galloway

Ya I think Galloway is the heart of this team and next year's team. Cupps and Newton will potentially be a very solid backcourt with or without Boogie. Malik isn't going pro next year unless he has an awesome year. So he will probably be back. MM will leave probably and Ware too. I think next year's team could def be better than this upcoming season. Who knows really though I guess. If we get Liam and another 1-2 quality forwards/bigs...2024-2025 looks to be very good.

That’s what I’m hearing. And I think we get him back for another year.

Love that. Woody just needs to outperform expectations and keep up the recruiting. Starting to feel like something special is brewing, just need to see it.

Yup. Gallo, Cupps, Reneau, Sparks, Banks, Gunn, a healthy Newton, and the five stars?

If this is true, we are in for a special two years I think. And if Mackenzie can shoot from 3 in the high 30's...

Why I am so excited for this season. Lots of unknown but I think this team has the talent to figure it out.

Outside of Calbert, Trey is my all time favorite IU player. Kid is a baller; he does all the little things that are conducive to winning basketball. Galloway is the poster child of what an Indiana Basketball player is - and should be.

Yes and he has improved each year. There are players that have come in better than him but he has really improved his game - his shooting the most

Shot 45% for Montverde as a Jr  in NIBL games and 44% in EYBL last summer.

Not sure he was really as bad as some thought he was as a shooter, or just injured - especially the wrist injury.

He's been my favorite player on the team since his freshman year. He's not a stat stuffer but he does a lot of things that help the team win and plays with so much effort and energy. That can be contagious. Even his freshman year, the other players seemed to have more energy and play harder when he was in the game. The Miller teams never seemed to have much energy or effort so it was very noticeable.

He's made great improvements in his shooting but I think a lot of his poor shooting was due to wrist injuries during HS messing up his form. Regardless of the reason, he worked hard to fix it.

Speaking of injuries, last year his most unappreciated improvement may have been finding a way to play as hard as he does without getting injured. He's been injury prone because of his style of play and I had my doubts he could go a whole season without missing games due to injury but he was able to last year. He needs to keep that up.

What he's really missing is becoming a consistent scorer. If he can do that, it would do wonders for the team, especially if he's at or around double digits.

I would love to see metrics on players when Trey is on the floor with them vs on the bench. I’d be willing to bet he makes efficiency numbers go up for everyone when he’s on the floor.

That would not surprise me in the least.

One reason, there is no one with the size of Ware in those 3.  Also, we will lack size next year to guard Edey and if my calculations are correct, he will be back next year for his COVID year because he will be the first POY X2 to not get drafted.

Does Edey get a Covid year thought he joined the team the year after

He was in the same incoming class as Galloway and Leal. He gets a COVID year. Even if he came the year after, he would have 1 more year left since this would be his junior year.
