Rivals from this weekend:

The game comes so effortlessly to McNeleey because he’s a master at playing at his own pace. Try as they might, defenders are never able to rush the Indiana signee on the offensive end; he’s constantly surveying the lay of the land looking for weaknesses to exploit and he’s automatic from three. McNeeley’s best game was a 21-point performance, which included him hitting four of his eight attempts from three. The buzz around McNeeley continues to grow surrounding his productivity and size translating into a one-year stint in college. Either way, Mike Woodson will have a much-needed threat from deep as well as a slasher with NBA size who’s accustomed to winning.

New interview. No, “What the hell was I thinking?” just yet. Still sounds 100% committed. Really, really hope they can hang on to him, kid’s a terrific player.

Again his Letter Of Intent is signed. He can't just de-commit and waltz out as so many people believe. IU has to let him out of his LOI or he plays nowhere next year without sitting out.

If Woodson is gone, no doubt he may leave and would get out of his letter if he wanted. That happens a ton when a coach changes so if you are suggesting Woodson might go than there is a legit possibility he does not come. If administration is the same I have never heard of a kid asking out solely because of a poor performance the season before.

Mgbako was let out of Duke because the spot he thought would be open and was promised for playing time was not. Even that is rare though. McNeely asking out without a clear player taking his minutes solely because the Hoosiers had a bad year is completely unprecedented and never heard of it happening.

True, of course. I was being snarky more than anything. And if you followed his recruitment, that kid talked way more about loyalty and relationships than he did about basketball. If the staff is back I’d be shocked if he stepped away. And his guy isn’t Woody, it’s Walsh, who is probably the most likely guy to survive any transition. So I think it’s much more likely than not that he’s in Bloomington in June.

ESPN has Liam as a lottery pick in 2025.

Glad this is on the record, just so nobody coaching our team can be "blindsighted" if he should happen to leave after a season!
