If he’s seriously interested in IU, McNeeley needs to be a high, high priority for ‘24. He’s really good and you can do a lot of stuff with him. He’s a complete offensive widget. You could play him as anything from a 4 in a small lineup to the point with a bunch of shooters. A creative coach would kill to have him. He’s almost unique. There’s no IU comp for him that comes to mind.  And his pace of play is something to behold. No one speeds him up, ever. Despite being a very good athlete he plays almost languidly, if that’s possible. Really unusual.

Love this, because I’m a sucker for versatility and big PGs, but mostly because the more I love players who are unique and unusual.

Kid looks like he was designed to play pick ‘n roll. He can be the dive man. He can fade to the arc. Put the ball in his hands and he can beat any D. He’s too good a shooter to go under the screen. You can’t drop cover him ‘cause he’ll just shoot it. He’s a really good, passer, so if you switch it he’s just gonna find the roll man or whatever’s there. You fight over the screen and he’ll just take it downhill. You blitz or hard hedge him and, he’s 6’7” not 6’1”, he’ll find whoever the rotation left. Without really looking the part, he can be the fulcrum of an offense.

Update on McNeeley’s recruitment ahead of his 9/23 visit. His 1st official.
On Woody: “He’s obviously going to play in a pro style because he was in the League for 50 years or whatever.”
Ok, that made me laugh.

“Or whatever”. Lol
