While the previous staff really wanted Rob they also wanted another pg to go along with him.  Garland was always going to be a one and done but they ended up missing out on a ton of others after Garland and just missed out.  Duke, Devoe,  Lewis, Mann, Carton, Terry.  Everyone of them went somewhere else.

True and then later all the experts, and many high level D1 staffs, had KL as a 5*.

I would say nice win but that would not be true. We tried to give that game to Nebraska.  I have no confidence that our point guard play will improve.  X spent more time dusting the floor and Phinesee was trying his best to dribble the air out of the ball.  Those two should never see the floor the rest of the season, if I were the coach.

TJD was awesome until he got hurt.  I sure hope he can play in our next game or we won’t have a chance.  I can’t for the life of me figure out why he can’t hit free throws.

JG earned more minutes!  He played great.

Galloway played decent.

Race was good

What are you going to do.  Head down to the HYPER and recuit someone off the court?  :)

Got to watch the game finally.

I imagine this could be Fred’s last year in Nebraska. Weren’t they solid last year? Has to be a hard place to recruit. I thought we played solid, offense sort of stuck a few times but we had some nice sets for Parker and TJD sprinkled in there.

- We are better when Trey is available to play.

- Jordan has all the potential a coach could desire in a player. Woodson and staff will have their time to show how they are in player development.

- TJD, an NBA Draft pick this summer!

- Please no more Pittsburg transfers. This should be added to the contract of the head coach LOL!

On other site it was reported that TJD tweeted he will play against PU and that he is ok.

And I'm starting a rumor that X will keep his cool, that Phin will hit 50% of his 3-pointer and not dribble the air out of the ball, that Galloway and the rest of the team won't turnover the ball ever again in the last 7 minutes of any game.

Take it to the bank.  Beat lil brother like a rug!

I don't think Nebrasketball was that solid last season.

Those two sets in the second half to get P Stew open looks were nice. It looked like Neb didn't even attempt to get out to him. We only shot 13 threes! If I recall 2-3 of those were Kopp gunning early. I'd love to see more of those plays ran for P Stew to get looks. If he's not shooting or at least on the strong side for Race or Trayce to kick to he's not adding a whole lot.

Proud of the team for getting a road win!

All you gotta do is win by 1 on the road, I don't care who the opponent is.

I'm hoping this gives everyone confidence heading into Purdoo game. If we get past that major test, we could start a nice little B1G win streak.

Because after Purdue Pur-suck-@$$-crap-school,  the schedule eases up for a three straight games (Mich and OSU  PSU at home, and Maryland on the road).

YES! (followed by a two second splice-out, that no doubt consisted of Woody saying "**** yes!")

Anybody else notice what's written on the whiteboard?

"Purdue"

Hah, love the message. "YES!" now let's move on b/c we got more important things to take care of.

If geronimo can play 3/4 that well every game, he's got to be getting 30 minutes.  IMO.  Cut Phinisee's time.  Give it to Bates and Galloway.  It seems possible Kopp/Geronimo could be working into a timeshare.  But Geronimo offers so much more if he's playing within himself.

agreed. IMO JG is only going to improve as the season goes on, but he def needs more minutes to do so.

Also, agree about Bates and Galloway. Watching Rob dribble the air out of the ball is maddening

Who knew he had that Yogi like pull-up game?! If he finds consistency he'll be a big piece moving forward, as well as being a unicorn on this team.

Please don't spell Purdoo the way you did on this board again.  Purdump is also acceptable.  TIA

I've gone with Purdud, Purdoo, Pudoo, and Undue Purversity already today.  I slipped and shall edit, and wear the requisite funny hat for one hour as self-imposed punishment.

In terms of Nebraska last year, as someone mentioned they weren't very good.

That said....Hoiberg has recruited solidly there -- at least relatively.  His 2019 group was rated 52nd overall, 5th in the Big Ten.  2020 was a little down -- 67th overall, 12th in the Big Ten but he was supposed to have struck gold with the 2021 group -- 3rd in the Big Ten, 18th overall.  The problem has been the revolving door.....he had 10 recruits in 2019 and 8 in 2021 as he was hitting the transfer portal hard even before covid.

But when you look at the 2021 class, he had:

Bryce McGowens, 29th in the class

Wilhelm Breidenbach, 103rd in the class

two players in the 210s

Keisei Tominga, 10th in the JUCO class

and transfers of

Alonzo Verge from Arizona State, where he averaged 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists

Keon Edwards, who barely played in his one year at DePaul but was a 4 star recruit out of high school

C.J. Wilcher from Xavier, who while he didn't play much at Xavier (3.3 points in 10 minutes per game in 15 games) was also a 4 star recruit out of high school

The portal worked well for Hoiberg at Iowa State but I think there were at least some foundational players already there.  Currently he's bringing in a lot of new players every year and they never have time to gel.
