kreigh8 Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 Need to get back to running the ball like they were in the first quarter. I’d expect Cincy to make the adjustment and not flinch on IUs line shifting. They are going to score. IU offense needs to carry their own weight. Winnable game - just need to answer Dave from Dayton, thebigweave and southsidehoosier 3 Quote
Banksyrules Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 Dammit. Just so ticked off. I hope we can bring a good stable quarterback in the future. Quote

I like the guy but he’s clearly just not the same player anymore. Truth is last year, despite our success, Penix was incredibly inaccurate. 56% accuracy in today's game isn't going to get it done. If Maryland had any kind of team last year, they kill us when he goes 6 of 19. Hoosierfan2017, HoosierTrav and Banksyrules 3 Quote
Dave from Dayton Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 IU needs to shake off that terrible targeting call and ejection of McFadden. DL needs to get back to doing what they were in the first 20 minutes. I don't know what to say about Pen but he needs a talking to. ..and some protection. OC needs to call short passes until our runs start to work again. And each time we get down within the 20 get some points. This thing can go south pretty quickly. And if you can do it, I sure want to see that targeting hit again...I can't see it...bogus call. Quote
Southside Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 Penix is who he is. He's better rolling. So roll him more. Helps the OL out too. Quote

He was under extreme pressure and got hit during the last INT. The first INT, I'm pretty sure his arm was hit on the throw (the announcer said as well, but they didn't show the replay). Not saying he's an accurate QB, just being real though... RaceToTheTop and Dave from Dayton 2 Quote

They likely did this year in Donaven McCulley. 24th rated incoming quarterback and 236th ranked player overall. Banksyrules 1 Quote

Yeah, there was pressure on both. The issue is o his decision to throw into coverage when he's pressured that's the issue. Rolling him out is meant to avoid pressure. Makes the throws harder, but makes hopefully doesn't make him make snap decisions. Dave from Dayton 1 Quote

Don’t know what to tell ya. If you can’t handle that type of pressure (which is normal in the top conferences) then you need to stop being quarterback. Especially if your that accurate. Quote
Loaded Chicken Sandwich Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 Well that was a pathetic ending to the half. Penix has to stop being so stupid with the ball. Offensive play calls have to be aggressive. Offensive line has to keep getting push. Losing McFadden is huge but the defense can't just quit with him out. I don't think Allen is the answer as the backup by any means. Need some speed in McFaddens spot. Dave from Dayton 1 Quote
RaceToTheTop Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 Returning kicks from the endzone is the sign of selfishness. Quote
Brass Cannon Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 Never been a huge Penix fan but unfortunately we don’t have a guy to trust behind him. Quote
LIHoosier Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 Awesome, burning a 2nd half timeout within a minute hoosierdogg 1 Quote
Banksyrules Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 Yes excellent. Let’s be generic enough so they can be bored and not hurt us ............ Quote
