Something being concerning and being concerned are different.  We just lost a kid that really we shouldn’t have lost now that it’s not against the rules to pay players.  A position of need where his role in the team couldn’t be more obvious.

Not getting your primary options is a death sentence in college basketball

It used to be a death sentence. The portal being what it is now has changed that.

There are many fans that think that a recruit should choose IU (or whichever other school) based on the expectations that exist in that fan's head. "He should come here because XXX and XXX". You have to give thought to where the recruit is comfortable, and feels they'll be the most productive and happy.

Good thing I didn't get to wrapped up in this one until a couple weeks ago. Same stuff different recruit lol. Were confident he is ours.then find out were wrong. Convince ourselves its no big deal then in the future we cry cause we suck and clowney is out clowning on everyone winning the national title. It's a vicious cycle

If it's about $$$, why are we not the hands down winner? Does anyone in Alabama care about basketball?

IU NIL should be significantly more or we're really screwing up the potential.

It's not necessarily primarily about money

  • It's also about Oats being damn good, and with an attractive style of play.
  • It's about family access to so many SEC games.
  • It's about a team that already has two five stars for next season, and is reasonably likely to get a third.

YES, IU has many of those things going for it too; that's why it was neck and neck to the finish line.

Since Oats and his recruiting shark  Hodgson arrived at Bama  they have landed 8 freshman (4 Four stars and 4 Five stars) 3 of those we’re McDonald’s all- Americans.   Add 2 more 5 stars this year and a high 4 star.  Not sure if any fans care about basketball at Alabama but their staff sure does.

Could we use his build and skill set? Of course...but I want players that WANT to be at IU. If he doesn't want to be here then we move on and go find someone that will work their tail off and is sold out for IU. Just like the coaching search, we got someone that is all about IU!! A sincere congrats and good luck to Clowney on his choice. Now let's go find our next Hoosier commit!!
