Why is that what Cronin would want UCLA to say?

Because they would owe him $16mil if they fired him and whatever school hired him wouldn't have to pay a dime.

Cronin is pretty much unfirable as he is unhirable right now.

That isn’t really how contracts work. There is either a material breach of a contract term, in which case the contract is voided, or there isn’t. You don’t just say that you don’t like a contract term and try to use it to modify another portion of the contract.

I am not a lawyer but I’m pretty sure these contracts aren’t written/enforced in such a simple way that you can cry “loophole!!” since you’re in the B10 instead of the P12 and somehow materially change the agreement. Lol

Whole package.

Has won conference titles at 3 different schools in the last 10 years.

He would murder it here.  Willing to look past his issues.  Like Sampson, it’s not even against the rules any longer

You're talking about a scenario in which Cronin quits and is in breach of the contract.

I’m not saying they would fire him, but Cronin doesn’t have any leverage to get more money or change the terms with UCLA. His options are either honor the current contract or find a new job.

That is correct. Now if UCLA didn’t pay him the agreed Pac12 bonus for winning a Big10 championship, he would absolutely have a justiciable claim.

Yes. And even then he couldn't unilaterally void the entire contract.
