Bringing in Matta wasn’t Dolson’s original plan. It was only after Woodson said he wanted a relationship like he had with Grunwald with the Knicks. Dolson couldn’t focus solely on basketball, so he brought in Matta to babysit Woodson.

I doubt seriously that it was to shut the fanbase up.

The story that's being told around is that Woodson initiated it by asking about his status for year 5, expecting to be re-coronated by Buckner, Ferguson, et al... Dolson is reported to have been willing to wait until the end of the season to have that discussion with Woodson... and that would have bought him more time to stealthily seek out The Entitled King's replacement... 

So, now, it's out and we (the fanbase and BTB) are being ridiculed and trolled on X by any number of members of the bot army.

There was also the issue of a booing fanbase and the impending appearance of candidate #1B (Dusty and UM).
