May, Drew, Conin are the only names IU is considering right now that Rabby is hearing from. He doesn't want any more Brad Stevens questions from board members. He will add him back at a later date if HE feels it is necessary. Don't question his authority either he is a true journalist.

I might have added a few things there at the end. But just those 3 and no BS

Sensing a tad bit of sarcasm on the true journalist line

There's a long time before we have resolution but if the three main candidates that are being zeroed in on are Scott Drew, Dusty May and Mick Cronin...I will be quite satisfied with the outcome and results. Scott Drew and Dusty May are certainly my two preferred options but I think Mick Cronin is really good as well. The positives for these three candidates are many, what about the weaknesses or potential red flags?

-Dusty May - only in his first season at a high-major program, unsure how he'll handle the constant exposure and pressure of the IU job

-Scott Drew - Baylor has dipped a bit since the National Championship but the "dips" are still mostly outstanding (currently 29th in KenPom despite 16-10 record, 15th last season and a 3-seed, 16th last season and a 3-seed, 4th and a 1-seed in 2022), how does he recruit the state of Indiana after being in Texas for so long? I think a couple of good staff hires can alleviate that issue.

-Mick Cronin - will he be able to produce good enough offenses?

I think any of the three would raise the level of the program in a significant way and I think would be quite exciting.

Grant McCasland is hopefully considered as well. His win % goes up with every move he makes

Once again going to recommend Curry Hicks Sage’s latest: https://x.com/curryhickssage/status/1891678860279742968?s=46

They get into some small northeastern school stuff later but he talks about IU about a half hour in and then again when a Michigan fan gets on the mic to ask about the chances Dusty leaves.

Of interest, though I’m sure I’m forgetting some things

1. he buys the Goodman/Brad story but acknowledges some IU connected folks seem to think there’s more there.

2. asks why Dusty didn’t get the job a year ago and kinda answers his own question. It lines up with the folks on the board here who didn’t see the vision until he turned around UM.

3. His guess is that IU can/will throw more $ at May than UM would match.

4. he says don’t get too hung up on in-season extension talks (in context of May but he says it generally)

5. Wondered aloud if IU would end up with a Buzz/Cronin type.

6. Also said he thought IU could maybe lure Otz if it’s really willing to pay up, while acknowledging that everyone says he’s happy in Ames.

In sum, what I’ve numbered 3 above gives me some confidence that IU probably can (will?) get May if the money folks will line up for someone who isn’t BS.

Would welcome some mutual interest with TJ Otz.  Believe he would do very well here.

TJ would be a great hire, but many seem to think he will stay in place.  I wonder if we'll find May is content at Michigan.

It is quite literally 0%. He is a unique person in that he cannot be bought. Any decision will be made because he views it as better for him and his family for non financial reasons. The IU job would very much not be.

If he could be  bought, they’d have done it already, and he’d have left Butler for Oregon or Illinois or UCLA or the Phoenix Suns - all of which offered to triple his salary or more from Butler, and all of which he turned down.

No one is envisioning BS as a cartoon villain stroking his moustache but there's a difference between being 'bought' and knowing your worth. That being said - everyone can be 'bought' just not every persons price tag is driven by monetary compensation. If SD truly knows BS (as some have suggested) he may have known exactly what those triggers are.

I'm not suggesting BS will be our coach but I am suggesting that possibility isn't 0%.

We’ve already tried to wine and dine him with chicken dinner at Los pollos hermanos.

Now that is something I agree with.
