Crean won two Big Ten titles. Archie has yet to do anything close. The two cannot be compared as similar right now.

I’ve seen Underwood mentioned several times on this board this season. I’m not knocking what he’s done, but if he was at IU, in year 4, doing the exact same thing here....brings back a ton of talent and experience, starts as a top 5ish team, slips to #18 while losing 3 of their 4 games against good teams while the 1 win doesn’t look that great anymore and the losses include one to our hated border rival who wasn’t ranked and to Rutgers!! (I mean I don’t care how good they are we just have to beat Rutgers right?!?).

Exactly. As much as I hate to admit it crean success is far past what archie looks even remotely close to and that says alot. Depressing really cause I thought archie was it and maybe still could be in time but he don't deserve that much time imo

People would be frustrated at the skid, but nobody would be calling for him to be fired.  Come on now, this doesn't grasp the reality of the failures of Archie Miller

He also had one of the worst seasons in Illinois basketball history and has yet to coach a game in the ncaa tournament with Illinois.   2 seasons finishing under .500.  in his first 4 years.  Lol this place would be on fire just like the Illinois board was before his projected first round 5 star in state guard decided to stay 2 extra years.   Same people would be killing him just like the same people would defending him saying give him time.

Archie has been given an auto 3 seasons so his guys could get in there. We've seen the Top 25 for 5 weeks. Illinois had two bad seasons in Underwood's first two seasons. 3rd season Illinois finishes 4th in the B1G at 13-7 and was 21st in the last poll(spent 8 weeks in the Top 25 including the final poll). Illinois has been much better and it isn't close.

Ok in those first 2 season this place would of torched him and asked for him to be fired just like the Illinois boards did.  I know what their record was.   I watched all their games

Telling me what I would say in a particular situation seems like a strange argument to make.  Can I put words in your mouth too?  

Reality is difficult for some to accept so they go with fantasy scenarios.

Play Leal 15 minutes. Phinisee and Durham just need to be spelling guys at this point. Lander needs 30 minutes. Franklin needs 35.

You know Archie isn’t getting the job done when a guy who finished under .500 in his first two seasons has his program in a better position than Archie does in year 4. Archie has gotten worse in the conference each year while Underwood has gotten better.

If Barrell Rick was our coach and hasn't won a game in 3 years, you just know the pumpers would be telling us he's a good coach and all he needs is more time.

How long was is contract for?  Close game or blow outs?  My thought on any coach is to give them until their first recruiting class is seniors.  I would hate to fire Barrell Rick before then and then he goes somewhere else and is successful

Dang, I didn't realize it was his fault the tournament got cancelled. 

 

I remember how bad they were his first season. They lost their first 8 conference games. I also remember who they beat to finally get that first win.

Not saying it was his fault but I was told on here couldn’t use that as an excuse.  Wasn’t Archie’s, chambers, or pikiells fault either that their programs didn’t make it but that’s what happened

Hah! Sure, you’d all approach that scenario totally level headed. 
 

I wasn’t comparing him to Archie. Just pointing out the newest example of a coach people seem to be enamored with, which suggests we’d be so much better with him rather than Archie, yet it’s laughable to think those people would be up in arms blowing up these same threads if we did have him.

People are enamored with him because he’s had the same time as Archie and gotten a lot more done.
