Beilein will be available.....

*I don’t think Beilein will come here, nor do I think would we want him at this juncture*

But...he is walking away from the rest of his contract with Cleveland according to Shams. I’d be willing to bet he has some sort of job lined up already behind the scenes.

Alright I see a lot of talk about the hedging. It’s indeed questionable.. but what’s the solution exactly?

I haven’t been able to watch more than a couple games this year so I can’t quite comment on what I would propose. Are there often small ball line ups in? I have games recorded but I hear it’s frustrating to watch.. Lol

On ball defender fights over or under the screen aggressively. Don’t allow space. Switch if applicable. Defender guarding the screener redirects screener early to interrupt timing.

Also IF YOU MUST hedge. On ball defender and hedger must attack the dribbler and force him out enough to where he can’t hit the roll. On ball defender recovering more quickly is the answer in this case.

Michigan with Simpson is probably the worst team to hard Hedge with because Simpson is that good with his reads for their ball screen offense. Simpson absolutely shredded the Zags hard hedging in the Bahamas earlier in the year.

Great question!

Seems like part of the equation is scouting the opponent and adjusting.

Hard hedge on Simpson, Cam Mack, or Winston? Doesn’t seem like a good idea.

On Marcus Carr or Davison/Trice? I like that better.

Any hedge on Nojel Eastern? Heck no; play under the screen.

I’m not a fan in general but if you run it, your guard must fight to regain position so your big doesn’t have to chase him out as far. The entire big ten knows when we run this our other interior defender will help on the roll and then boom, out pops a shooter for a wide open look. Over and over and over and over.

Kinda wonder if he'll just retire. NCAA is too corrupt for his liking, NBA you have too little control. Times have changed and he just seems fed up with it.

Maybe, but he could look for once last payday as he reportedly is walking away from the NBA contract and leave over $16 on the table.  Might be that he wants to coach just a few more years and didn't see being able to do that if he stuck around the Cavs any longer.

Based on how we always play the hedge, it doesn’t appear we are scouting our opponents. This and the fact that Archie’s players don’t play at 100% are my biggest complaints along with not recruiting shooters at Indiana. Not benching players will be his undoing.

I would prefer to swing for the fences again with someone younger but proven. Bennett, Billy D, Chris Beard etc. but before I go with a mid major guy (Crean or Arch) I would take Beilein and not be upset.

And if we strike out on all of them?

Hire Pearl before it’s too late. Guy has proven himself at every stop. Freaking Auburn is Powerhouse. Started his head coaching career in Indiana. May as well end it here.

No. I understand you and others are ok with playing in the weeds. I'm not.
Especially someone who illegally records phone calls to a recruit, leads him to admit something that didn't happen to get another program in trouble.
