mdn82 Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 DeVonte Green and Al Durham. Fantastic news that the coaching staff has officially announced that DeVonte has completely bought in. Wonder why Deron is not. I really thought he would be based off exit interviews. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

Fantastic news that the coaching staff has officially announced that DeVonte has completely bought in. This was not a coach decision. The players voted. I'm all for it. Frankly I'm more surprised by Al than Devonte, I'd never really pegged him as a leader. Devonte is a senior guard, and highest returning scorer. Exactly what we need. Whatever attitude he has is an asset. Most successful people have an edge. I know we Hoosiers love us some humility and all, but this team needs a little F-U swagger. As far as Archie believing in him, he always has. Remember Archie was intrigued by Green's play and attitude from the beginning. And his comments just a couple days ago showed that he intends to give Devonte more slack this year and just accept some bad with the good. In my opinion, this shows growth by Archie as well. My own diagnosis of the extremely poor shooting (like 311th? Last in the B1G?) was that the whole team had the yips. Archie was maybe uptight with all the expectations, and it rubbed off on the team. If a guy had an open 3, he still didnt want to take the shot. Btw, Devonte posted this last night. thebigweave, Str8Hoosiers, Stuhoo and 6 others 9 Quote
Loaded Chicken Sandwich Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 Green best work his butt off. He’s supposed to be the best player on the team. The most consistent player on the team. Personally I believe he should be playing 30 minutes off the bench but he will start at the 2 guard. He’s going to have to put up 15+ a game. Al is Al. Doubt he bumps his scoring up much. Might hit 10 a game off the bench. But he’s gotta be a very good combo guard that can defend 3 positions for this team to be successful. This team will go as the guards do. If they don’t play well, this team won’t. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote

darB s'tI Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 I think this is awesome. Logic or shoe-in might have told us others could have ended up being captains. And with some previous uncertainty around DG, to see that he has earned Archie's trust his absolutely huge. Good for Durham as well obviously, but this DG story could be a real game changer for IU. We've all seen the potential...let it shine, baby! Stromboli 1 Quote
Crimson and Cream Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 I would have guessed Brunk would have been one but seeing how this is his first year with the team I understand why the other two were selected Quote
